Chapter 151

The Sullivan family’s luck had run out. Since their last, disastrous hospital visit with Paul, they’d been stonewalled. Brittany’s calls to Julian, initially dismissed with flimsy excuses, went unanswered. Their contract with the Vanderbilts was overdue, the next quarter’s agreement unsigned. The usual proactive project manager was silent. Gregory’s inquiries were met with vague promises of "instructions from above"—code for Dominick.

Their problems weren't isolated. Brittany's drama project had imploded. The lead actors, along with the supporting cast, had quit, leaving her the target of online ridicule. Production was stalled, and she desperately needed it to restart, but Julian, and Dominick, were unreachable.

"What's going on?" Christina fretted. "Weren't they so friendly? Why the silence?"

The family business and Brittany's career hung in the balance, both tethered to Dominick.

"Did we offend Mr. Vanderbilt?" Christina asked.

Brittany bristled. "I haven't even met him! I only dealt with his assistant, and now he's ignoring me! When I am Dominick's woman, that assistant will pay."

Gregory was equally baffled. "Our projects are small-fry. They don't need Dominick's approval. How could we offend him?"

"Then what's happening? We can't wait!" Christina exclaimed. "Brittany's show, our projects—everything's stalled!"

Gregory frowned. This inaction was intolerable. They'd thrived on Dominick's generosity, transforming losses into unimaginable wealth and status. The thought of returning to their past struggles was terrifying.

"We can't abandon Vanderbilt, but we can't rely solely on him," Gregory declared. "We need an alliance."

Brittany gasped. "Dad, you're not marrying me off, are you?"

Christina’s eyes lit up. "Exactly! Brittany's Dominick's target! Being his woman, even as an actress, is better than any marriage!"

Gregory smirked. "I'm not talking about Brittany. We have another daughter."

Christina's eyes gleamed. "Paisley!"

Gregory nodded. "Yes. She's not exactly brilliant, but she's presentable. I'll find her a suitable match in a few days."
