Chapter 182

Was Brittany trying to sabotage him by bringing Dominick? She claimed not, saying she just wanted to impress the crew. But her question about the film’s joint effort with Nion rattled Gary. He stammered, “Of course, it’s a joint effort with Ms. Vaire. We’re both invested.”

Brittany frowned. “Where’s Nion?” she demanded, dropping the polite “Ms. Vaire.” The crew members snickered, but remained silent. Even Gary always used the formal title.

Gary felt a headache coming on. He hadn’t invited Nion, knowing Nion disliked Brittany. “I was in a rush,” he mumbled, “and forgot to tell Ms. Vaire.”

Brittany snorted. “Gary, this is your mistake! Call her. We need to discuss the script.”

He reluctantly agreed, Dominick’s increasingly stern expression pushing him. Brittany was determined to confront Nion, to make her regret her past dismissal.

“Dad, bathroom,” Grayson tugged at Dominick’s hand, clearly wanting to escape.

“I’ll take him,” Brittany offered smoothly, attempting to impress Dominick.

Grayson scowled. “No.”

Brittany’s smile froze. This wasn’t going as planned.

Dominick rose. “Sonny’s old enough to go alone, or I’ll go with him.” He left with Grayson, leaving Brittany fuming. She’d get rid of him once she had Dominick's child.

With Dominick gone, the tension eased.

Keith raised his glass. “We apologize for earlier,” he said to Gregory. “Please forgive us.”

Marianne echoed him. “The children’s happiness is paramount. Once Paisley marries Baron, she’ll have a wonderful life. We’ll take good care of her.”

Brittany’s smile twisted. This wasn’t what she wanted. She wanted Paisley to fail, not thrive with the Jackmans.

“Mrs. Jackman,” Brittany purred, “no one knows my sister better than we do. Don’t spoil her. She’ll only make mistakes.”
