Chapter 184

Gregory lunged, but his bodyguards intercepted him. His rage, though contained, burned. He glared at Paisley, a venomous intensity in his eyes.

“Paisley! You despicable brat! You’ve ruined our family!” Christina shrieked, her voice laced with venom. The Jackman alliance was shattered, their humiliation public. Worse, their carefully laid plans to impress Dominick lay in ruins. What would he think? Would Brittany’s reputation suffer? Her hatred for Paisley intensified. “Why did you come back? Why didn’t you die?”

The words were familiar, but Paisley remained unmoved.

“Die? They should die!” Lucy retorted, stepping forward, her voice sharp. “You ignore your own daughter to cling to that adopted…treasure! You’re pathetic! Trash! You and your little bitch deserve to die together!”

Christina and Brittany stared, speechless, their faces draining of color.

“Y-you…” Christina stammered, pointing a trembling finger.

“‘Old hag’? Is your mother dead?” Lucy snapped back, unfazed. Paisley had given her permission; the consequences were hers to manage. Paisley nodded her approval.

Clutching her chest, Christina gasped for air, eyes wide with shock.

“Ungrateful child!” Gregory roared, his voice cracking. “Get out! You’re no longer my daughter!”

Paisley smirked. “Said that before, years ago. Old age catching up, I see. You don’t even remember your own words.”

“Get out!” he bellowed, his face crimson, veins bulging in his neck.

Paisley remained impassive. She’d return their disgust tenfold. Her goal achieved, she turned to leave.

“Ms. Vaire?” A familiar voice stopped her. Gary stood there, astonished. He’d been trying to find Nion; he never expected this.

Paisley froze, seeing Gary's equally surprised face. “Gary? What are you doing here?”

Gary, shaken, pointed at Brittany. “She made us come,” he whispered, his voice trembling. He’d seen much, but this…this was unsettling. Especially discovering Paisley's connection to the Sullivans.

He’d pieced it together from overheard snippets. Nion's resistance to Brittany made perfect sense now. He was appalled by the Sullivans' viciousness, their attempts to marry their daughter to Haron. He hadn't known their daughter was Nion. Seeing Paisley outmaneuver them filled him with relief. Had she not been prepared, the consequences would have been devastating.

Brittany, meanwhile, was struck dumb by Gary's words.
