Chapter 67
Silence. Everyone watched Marissa, her eyes brimming with tears. She choked out, "Dom..."
Dominick’s gaze was hard. After a long pause, he sighed. "How are you feeling? The medics are on their way."
"You have to believe me, Dom! I didn't—" She clung to his arm.
He gently freed himself, helping her sit. "Let's focus on your injuries first."
Her eyes reddened. She turned to Grayson. "Sonny, you believe me, right?"
He hesitated, his gaze flickering towards Paisley before he nodded weakly. "Marissa, I believe you."
Relieved, Marissa glared at Paisley. See that? Even with your accusations, Dominick's still here, and even Grayson!
Serena, in Maria’s arms, wailed, reaching for Paisley. "Mommy! They're mean!"
Paisley gathered her daughter close. "Don't cry, Rena. No one's bullying Mommy."
Sobbing, Serena gasped, "That scary guy is bad! Grayson is bad! I hate them!"
Paisley hugged Serena tightly. "Alright, sweetie, Mommy hates them too. We won't see them again." She didn't see Grayson’s pained expression or Dominick’s deepening frown.
Once Serena calmed, Paisley turned, her voice icy. "I won the race. This field is mine. You can all leave."
Alexis scoffed. "Why? Neither you nor Marissa finished! And this is for premium members only!"
David and the medical team arrived. Dominick immediately handed Marissa over. "Dom, I'm scared..." she whispered, clinging to him.
He brushed her off with irritation. "Let them check you. I'm not a doctor."
David apologized profusely. "I'm truly sorry, Mr. Vanderbilt. We'll take full responsibility."
Alexis snapped at Paisley, "And what about your staff? How did she get in here?"
David's eyes fell on Paisley. He remembered her from the hotel – beautiful, with a child. But beauty wouldn't excuse this kind of audacity. His expression hardened. "Who let them in?" The stable staff trembled.
