Chapter 90
Paisley, after checking on Teddy with Serena, finalized their departure time with Emery. Reaching the hotel entrance, she saw Dominick’s group leaving. Marissa held Grayson’s hand, muttering something sharply. Grayson’s eyes were red and puffy; he nodded listlessly, almost indifferent. Dominick, face thunderous, strode ahead, David practically tripping over himself, apologizing profusely and pleading for them to return. Dominick ignored him.
He stopped dead when he spotted Paisley and Serena. His face froze, an unmelting mask of ice. Paisley and Serena’s smiles vanished. Serena averted her gaze.
"Well, well. Ms. Sutton, waiting for me?"
Nathaniel, impeccably dressed, appeared beside Paisley. Serena’s eyes lit up; she reached for him. The contrast with her treatment of Dominick was stark. Dominick’s chest tightened.
Nathaniel scooped Serena up. "Hey princess, haven't said hi to Dominick yet?"
Serena pouted. "Dominick is mean. I don't like him."
Nathaniel smiled charmingly. "What about me then?"
"You're so handsome, Prince Charming!" Serena beamed. "Not mean at all. I really like you!"
Dominick was speechless. Nathaniel chuckled. "He is pretty mean. I don't like him either."
Like I care, Dominick thought.
Nathaniel, Paisley, and Serena looked like a magazine-perfect family. Whispers followed them—everyone knew Paisley was Dominick’s ex-wife. Nathaniel, relishing the situation, threw Dominick a smug look.
"Ms. Sutton," Nathaniel murmured, "look at that death glare."
Paisley met Dominick’s icy stare. He probably didn’t remember his drunken visit to her room last night. Tipsy, he'd been almost bearable. Sober, a buzzkill.
"Just ignore him. Let's go," Paisley said, entering the hotel.
Nathaniel followed, pulling exaggerated faces at Dominick. He was thoroughly enjoying himself.
