Listen to this chapter:

"Sandra wants me to show up at the club?" Evelyn asked Rayna over the phone as she walked into her apartment. "Why?"

"I have no idea what she's thinking," Rayna explained. "When she called the first time, she said she didn't want you to join us, but now she texted asking if I could invite you without telling you she'd be there. I'm not sure I should go. What do you think?"

Evelyn kicked off her shoes and headed for her bedroom. She was exhausted from a day of house hunting and all she wanted was to freshen up and confide in Maya, as promised.

Rayna sighed. "I don't know, Evie. I'll protect you, but I'd be more comfortable knowing what Sandra's up to. Why don't you talk to Derek? Tell him what's happening, and if he thinks you should go, then let's do it."

Evelyn frowned, sitting on her bed. "Alright. I'll get back to you after I speak to him." She hung up and quickly texted Derek: "If you're not too busy, can you call me?" After sending the text, she began to undress. Before reaching the bathroom, her phone rang—it was Derek.

"Is everything okay?" Derek asked, his voice concerned.

"Yeah, I just need your opinion," Evelyn said, recounting Sandra's text to Rayna.

Derek paused, then sighed. "I think I might have to check Michael's office and apartment. I don't think hacking his SIM is enough."

"Why?" Evelyn asked.

"She met with Michael after lunch. I think she came up with the idea of inviting you to the club after that meeting. I need to know what they discussed in person," Derek explained. Evelyn nodded.

"That makes sense. But what should I do? Should I go? I can easily tell Rayna to tell Sandra I declined and suggested another place, right?"

"Yes. Do that. Let's see what Sandra says. That way, we'll know if she just wants to embarrass you or if her plan is limited to the club," Derek suggested.

"Alright. I'll call you back. I'm sorry to bother"

"You're not bothering me. And just so you know, I want you to bother me," he said, making her giggle.

"I'll call you after I hear from Rayna," Evelyn said, hanging up. Smiling, she called Rayna and relayed the conversation. Then she freshened up while waiting for Rayna's response.

Meanwhile, Rayna called Sandra. "Hey, Ray! Did you get my text?" Sandra asked. Rayna rolled her eyes.

"Yes. That's why I'm calling. I just talked to Evelyn, and she doesn't want to meet at Club Edge. She suggests meeting elsewhere."

Sandra scowled. "Can't you convince her?"

"Do we have to meet at the club? We're not partying. We can"

"Michael will be there too. I want to reconcile them. Michael's still crazy about Evelyn. I hope I can help them reconcile, then Evelyn will leave Derek alone, and things can go back to normal. I need your help." Rayna's brows furrowed.

"So, Michael's joining us?" she asked, suspicious.

"Yes, but don't tell Evelyn. Or Michael. I'm going to get a room, and we'll lock them in so they can talk. What do you think?" Rayna softly laughed at Sandra's crazy plan. If she didn't know the truth about Evelyn, Michael, and Sandra, she'd have fallen for it.

"It's brilliant. And I'm surprised you care so much about Evelyn after everything she's done," Rayna said. Sandra sighed.

"She's my sister. I love her regardless of her flaws. What else can I do?" Rayna resisted the urge to snort.

"I'll try to convince Evelyn," Rayna promised.

"Thanks, Ray. I don't know what I'd do without you," Sandra said, hanging up.

Rayna called Evelyn back. "You won't believe what that snake plans to do," she said.

"What is she up to?" Evelyn asked anxiously.

"She wants to lock you in a room with Michael to resolve things," Rayna said. Evelyn frowned.

"That doesn't make sense. I won't resolve things with Michael; I know they're sexually involved," Evelyn said. Rayna pursed her lips. "You have a point. So, what's her plan then?"

Evelyn sighed. "Perhaps they're setting me up. It's more than just being alone with Michael."

"She said Michael doesn't know you're coming," Rayna said. Evelyn shook her head.

"We can't believe anything she says. Sandra's a liar. They probably planned this together. I'm going. I want to see what they're up to. Tell her I agreed."

Rayna raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure?"

"Yeah. If I don't agree, she'll think you're useless. I'll let Derek know. We'll find a way to counter their plan."

Rayna nodded. "Alright then. I'll tell her. See you tonight."
