The classroom’s attention once again zeroed in on Eloise. Given Cindy’s reaction just moments ago, who would believe Eloise was clueless about the debacle?

“L…I had no clue. If I had, I never would’ve let them do something to hurt Ms. Dawson,” Eloise protested, her face a mix of innocence and the anger of being falsely accused.

At school, Eloise had always been seen as a well-read, kind-hearted debutante, making it hard for anyone to picture her stooping to such lows out of jealousy toward Freya and employing such despicable tactics. However, with Cindy and Mae taken away by the authorities, even if Eloise denied any knowledge, the stain on her reputation seemed indelible.

“Ms. Harwood, rest assured. I asked out of protocol. Without any solid evidence, we’re not in a position to interrogate you formally,” the lawyer stated, following Freya’s instructions to scam Eloise before they all turned to leave.

Eloise was visibly frightened, struggling to regain her composure for quite some time. The thought of such rumors circulating school, tarnishing her reputation, made her clench her fists in frustration. She had underestimated Freya, mistaking her for a harmless bunny when, in reality, she was a wolf in sheep’s clothing. It was clear to Eloise that she needed to strategize early.

Later that evening at the Sutton family home, Audrey slammed a stack of photos before Freya, demanding, “What is this all about?” Freya noticed Audrey’s interrogation the moment she arrived home. The photos before her captured the intimate moments she supposedly shared with Ronan and Preston earlier that day, planted by Cindy and Mae on the school’s bulletin board.

“Audrey, someone’s intentionally trying to ruin my reputation.”

“A reputation can only be tarnished if there’s truth to exploit! I’ve had these photos verified. They’re real!” Audrey took a deep breath, continuing. “You’ve let me down! As the fiancée to the heir of the Sutton family, how could you associate so closely with the likes of Ronan and Preston? And to top it off, you allowed them to capture such compromising photos to spread around school!”

“Audrey…”

“Do you get that everyone at Summit University comes from our world? You’re just trying to make the Sutton name look bad,” Audrey was particularly aggrieved and added, “I’ve told you Summit University was a mistake. All you need to do is foster a good relationship with Kieran and prepare for marriage and, eventually, children. Now, look at the mess you’ve stirred up. The gossip will ignite among our peers.”

Freya understood Audrey’s concerns were for the sake of the Sutton family. “I’ve reported it to the police. The instigators have been detained for questioning. We should have answers soon.”

Audrey nodded, satisfied with the response, before asking, “Who was behind this?”

“Two friends of Ms. Harwood.”

Hearing Eloise’s name linked to the incident made Audrey frown. “Eloise again! As if bewitching Kieran wasn’t enough, now she’s orchestrating these schemes! Despicable!”

At that moment, Kieran walked in. Seeing him, Audrey went straight in for an explanation, “Kieran, fill me in. What’s going on?”
