Chapter 152
That evening, Kieran returned to Sutton Manor, noticing only the housekeeper bustling about in the living room. He inquired, โWhereโs Freya?โ
Freya remained silent. Johanna leaned closer and said, โFreya tookโฆ Leland has apologized. You donโt have to take it to bear. Vids say things wereโฆ Dafina weighing their words.โ
โJohanna, Leland is hardly a child. Heโs of age now.โ
That comment left Johanna speechless.
Freya continued, โLet me clarify again while weโre on the subject. The Dawson family is under my name. So is the company. Everything Dad left behind, except for the five million you two got and your night to stay in the Dawson family, is mine. If you keep yelling at me, donโt blame me for forgetting our years of acquaintance and kicking you two out. I assure you, Iโll report you in court.โ Fredโs message was crystal clear.
Aligndโs face grew darker by the moment, and Johannaโs expression turned just as grim. Seeing they both understood the gravity of their situation, Freya turned and walked upstairs.
โWhat does Freya mean by that?โ In anger, Leland slammed his glass onto the floor.
Freya, still on the staircase, paused. Lelandโs outburst was a vent of his frustration towards her.
She said, โIn the Dawson family, everything belongs to me. Leland, remember to pay for whatever you break. Iโll be checking.โ
โYourโฆโ Leland, furious, was about to confront Freya upstairs when Johanna held him back, saying, โSon, stop this nonsense.โ
โMom! Sheโs going too far!โ
โWhat can we do when Gavin left everything to Freya?โ Johanna was furious. That was their reward after all the effort she put into looking after Gavin!
Leland swore, โWe canโt let Freya keep walking over us, Mom. I wonโt stand for it!โ
โYou have to, even if you donโt want to. Nowโs the time to hold your tongue.โ Johanna took a deep breath and said, โI refuse to believe Freya will remain unmarried. Once she joins the Sutton family, she wonโt have the time or energy to meddle in the Dawson familyโs affairs. Thatโs when Iโll reclaim whatโs ours!โ
However, Johanna had another pressing issue to deal with. Today, she had blown through twelve million in savings. It wasnโt an issue when she had the final say in the company. But then, she wasnโt allowed to go to the office, and no one listened to what she said.
Having been fired over their affair, Galen couldnโt help, either. Though Freya hadnโt exposed the embezzlement, Johanna could no longer embezzle company funds.
And what could Gavinโs five million do? It wasnโt even enough to send Leland overseas for his studies!
With that in mind, Johanna said, โLeland, your birthday is the day after tomorrow. I want you to make a good impression. Iโve arranged everything for you. You need to make me proud!โ
The idea of mingling with business magnates, arranged by Johanna, left Leland feeling sullen. He despised dealing with those old fogies the most! He had hoped to inherit the family wealth without a hitch, but Freya threw a wrench into his plans.
With no other choice, Leland grudgingly agreed, โYeah, I got it.โ
โMs. Dawson? Ms. Dawson hasnโt come back yet today.โ
โNot back yet?โ Kieran glanced at the clock in the living room and remarked, โItโs ten oโclock. What kind of classes go on this late?โ
Unsure herself, the housekeeper suggested, โMaybeโฆ thereโs some school event?โ
โWhat college event goes on this late?โ Kieran frowned, pulling out his phone to call Freya.
The phone rang twice before, unsurprisingly, the call was disconnected.
Great! Just great!
Witnessing Kieranโs darkening mood, the housekeeper was about to speak up for Freya.
However, Kieran commanded, โThrow all of Freyaโs stuff out of her room!โ
โThrow itโฆ out?โ The housekeeper was stunned. Those were all Ms. Dawsonโs belongings!
Kieran coldly stated, โIf she doesnโt want to stay at Sutton Manor, she might as well leave.โ
Reflecting on Silasโs words, Kieran grew increasingly worried about Freya. Kieran felt a tightness in his chest when he thought Freya might also use these tactics to entice Preston and Ronan.
Playing hard to get, was she? Fine, this time, he would push her too far! He wanted Freya to realize that Kieran Sutton was not to be trifled with!
He doubted Freya could stay as composed as she was if he showed indifference towards her. He was waiting for the day she would come to him.
In the evening, the Sutton Manorโs housekeeper still relayed the message to Freya. At that moment, Freya was in the Dawson family home, setting up a meeting time with Eloise. Upon hearing the news, Freya responded lightly, โLet it be. It wasnโt that important anyway.โ
She could buy those things with money. The old must go for the new to come. Kieran throwing her belongings out saved her the hassle of moving.
The housekeeper was slightly surprised by Freyaโs attitude of not taking Kieran seriously. Could it beโฆ that this wasnโt some clever female tactic but genuinely not caring about Mr. Sutton?
After hanging up the phone, Eloise called. โMs. Dawson, what did you mean by your message?โ
โMs. Harwood, Iโve moved out of Sutton Manor, and Kieran has thrown all my things out. I believe my sincerity is clear enough, right?โ Hearing this, Eloise frowned on the other end of the line. Kieran hadnโt contacted her in these few days. And they didnโt speak over the previous incident of spreading rumors about Freya.
She thought Freya wanted to confront Kieran, but surprisingly, Freya decided to walk away. That would seem strange to anyone. Freya continued, โMs. Harwood, I wonโt compete with you over Kieran. Iโm even willing to bring business your way. Mr. Tyler is now interested in a property from the Harwood family. If you could meet with Mr. Tyler, I believe a partnership between you wouldnโt be difficult.โ
โYouโre that generous?โ Eloise couldnโt believe Freya would go out of her way to introduce Preston, a major player, to her. Freya stated, โBelieve it or not, itโs up to you, Ms. Harwood. But Iโve done whatโs necessary to provoke Kieran, showing my sincerity. Please think it over.โ
