Chapter 169
For the sake of her son, Johanna signed the contract. Holding it in her hand, Freya smiled contentedly. Johanna said, โReya, look. Iโve signed the contract. I wouldnโt lie to you. Please rescue Leland from Mr. Suttonโs clutches. If anything were to happen to him, what would I do?โ Anxiety etched Johannaโs face. She was eager to prepare Leland for the birthday bash at Majestic Manor Hotel; only half a day remained. Securing a match with a wealthy heiress could solve their financial worries for life.
Freya said, โOkay, Iโll head to the Sutton Group and speak with Mr. Sutton.โ Rising to her feet, Johanna sighed with relief. Freya added, โJohanna, transfer the money quickly. We have a contract, after all.โ Johanna winced internally. She cursed, โThat darn brat!โ
After dealing with Johanna, Freya left the Dawson residence. In her car, she debated whether to go to the Sutton Mansion or the Sutton Group. After a moment, she dialed Jarrettโs number. He answered quickly. Freya asked, โJarrett, whereโs Leland right now?โ
Silence followed. โJarrett?โ Freya repeated, puzzled. Then, she heard Kieranโs chilly voice. โYou called just to ask this?โ Startled, Freya checked her phone, then asked, โKieran?โ Why would Kieran answer a call for Jarrett?
โLelandโs at the office. If you want him, come get him yourself,โ Kieran said before hanging up. Compared to his previously temperamental demeanor, he seemed much colder and more detached. Freya frowned slightly. Had her closeness with Preston the day before caused Kieran to loathe her? As she considered this, her brows smoothed out. If that were the case, she couldnโt be happier.
Freya set down her phone; her mood instantly brightened. She hoped Kieran would despise her even more. Ideally, he would break off their engagement so they could go their separate ways forever. With that thought, Freya pressed the accelerator, heading straight for the Sutton Group.
