Chapter 171

How could Kieran possibly invite Leland over to his place for coffee? Wouldn't it turn the Sutton family into a laughingstock if word got out? But then, thinking of Johanna's smug face, Jarrett couldn't help but think it wasn't entirely out of the realm of possibility. Johanna and her son were shameless to the extreme.

“Ms. Dawson, if you’d follow me, please.” Jarrett led Freya upstairs. The staff nearby were surprised; they hadn't expected Jarrett to take Freya upstairs. After all, Kieran had never invited Freya into his private quarters.

“Weren’t we told Mr. Sutton couldn’t stand his fiancée? Why do I get the feeling Jarrett is intimidated by her?”

“Throwing her weight around because she’s the Dawson family’s golden girl, huh? She seems to have forgotten how subservient she was at the Suttons!”

“Yeah, back in the day, Ms. Dawson would wait for Mr. Sutton for hours!”

The whispers continued among the small group. Jarrett, who had overheard their comments, looked at Freya expecting to see annoyance or anger. Instead, he saw nothing of the sort. It was as if she hadn’t heard the whispers, just walking straight ahead.

Observing her over this period, Jarrett had noticed a change in Freya. And as time went on, that difference became even more pronounced. Previously, if anyone had spoken about Freya like that behind her back, she would have been mortified and wanted to leave within minutes. But lately, her expression was one of complete indifference.

“Ms. Dawson, we’ve arrived.” Jarrett led Freya directly into a spacious lounge. After ensuring Freya wouldn’t be disturbed, Jarrett left the lounge to report to Kieran in his executive office.

“Is she here?” Kieran didn’t even look up, his eyes fixed on the documents before him.

Jarrett stated, “Ms. Dawson… has arrived.”

“Where is she?”

“In the lounge next door.”

Hearing Jarrett had arranged a lounge for Freya, Kieran paused, his gaze suddenly icy as he looked up. “Did I tell you to get a lounge for her? Did you not understand my instructions?”

“Mr. Sutton, Ms. Dawson mentioned if you’re too busy, she would leave… She also said the Dawson family had arranged a reception at the Majestic Manor Hotel tonight and that it would be no issue if Mr. Sutton refused to release Leland. They’ll say Mr. Sutton is inviting his future brother-in-law for coffee…” Jarrett’s voice trailed off.

What a mess!

“Absurd!” Kieran suddenly slammed the documents on the table.

Jarrett found it absurd. What status did Mr. Sutton have? How could he possibly be inviting Leland for coffee? But now that everyone knew Leland was Kieran’s future brother-in-law, they would believe it if Freya personally told the guests that.

Kieran coldly said, “So, Freya thinks I have no way to deal with her?”

Jarrett didn’t dare to respond.

Kieran looked up, “Where did we dump Leland?”
