Chapter 239
Hearing Ronan had snatched up the land, Kieran shot up from his seat, incredulity written all over his face. โWhat did you just say?โ
โMr. Sutton, Iโm just a girl. What do I know about investments? Besides, it wasnโt even me who wanted to buy that land. It was Ronan. You know I didnโt have the sway in the Dawson family needed to cough up half a billion. So, Mr. Sutton, if youโre after that piece of land, youโd better talk to Mr. Beckett. That is, of course, if Mr. Beckett is willing to sell it to you.โ
Freya was acting all innocent, but Kieran couldnโt sense any sincerity in her words. โFreya, are you messing with me? You were aiming for that land and just gave it away like that?โ
โMr. Sutton, itโs not as simple as that. The money came from Mr. Beckett in the first place. Now that Mr. Beckett wants it back, what can I say? I have to hand it over.โ Freya sighed with a hint of regret. โI do regret it. Had I known the land was that valuable, I would have bitten the bullet and bought it myself! Now, all that excitement was for nothing.โ
โYouโฆโ Kieran was at a loss for words. How could Freya casually hand over such a windfall to Ronan?
It was common knowledge that the Becketts and Suttons were like oil and water. If Ronan got his mitts on that land, the Sutton Groupโs spa resort project would tank for sure.
Seeing Kieran about to storm out, Freya mockingly called out, โMr. Sutton? Leaving so soon? Wonโt you stay a bit longer?โ
The only response she got was the sound of the door slamming shut.
Once Kieran was gone, Freya dropped the act, leaning back on her bed to rest with her eyes closed. Lucky for her, Kieran didnโt know she had used her trust money from her father to purchase the Southern Suburb land. Otherwise, he would find a way to squeeze the Dawson Group and snatch the hot property from her hands.
โRonan, oh Ronan, sorry for using you as a shield again.โ
Meanwhile, Ronan sneezed at Summit University without regard for appearances for the first time. โAchoo!โ
Noticing the students looking at him from under the lectern, Ronan adjusted his glasses and spoke calmly, โLetโs continue with the lecture.โ
Soon after, the bell rang, signaling the end of the class. Ronan glanced at his watch before collecting his lecture notes, announcing, โClass dismissed.โ
As he stepped outside, the secretary and executive assistant of the Beckett Group formed two lines behind him.
โMr. Beckett, there are a few collaborations the company needs to discuss next.โ
โI need to take care of something first. Weโll talk later.โ
โYes, Mr. Beckett.โ
Ronan proceeded to the universityโs conference room, where all the faculty had been waiting for him.
Upon seeing Ronan enter, the dean immediately greeted him, โMr. Beckett!โ
Ronan raised his hand, not bothering with pleasantries. He directly stated, โRegarding the issue of Mae getting involved in campus violence, I advocate expulsion. Thereโs no need to share your opinions with me. I have other matters to attend to.โ With that, Ronan turned and left the conference room.
The other faculty members understood Ronanโs stance. They werenโt foolish enough to oppose Ronan, and they quickly voiced their agreement since Ronan voted for expulsion.
โSuch malicious incidents must be met with expulsion!โ
โI also agree with the expulsion.โ
