Chapter 241
When the whole class thought Ronan had come because of Eloiseโs decision to study abroad, Ronan called out another name. โMae.โ
At the sound of her name, Mae tensed up.
โCome forwardโฆโ
With a heart filled with fear, Mae got to her feet, still clueless about the reason for Ronanโs unexpected visit. Then, she saw a bodyguard by the door hand Ronan a freshly printed notice.
Ronan didnโt even glance at it before tossing the notice onto the table before Mae, stating with an unchanging expression, โYou got expelled.โ
The notice landed at Maeโs feet.
โI canโt be!โ Mae blurted out in disbelief.
She hurriedly picked up the notice, tearing open the envelope, only to find the expulsion notice inside. As she read it, Mae froze. โExpelled? Why?โ
Her eyes immediately sought out Eloise. Eloiseโs expression was equally grim.
Everyone knew Mae was Eloiseโs close friend. Ronan delivering the expulsion notice in front of the class was like a slap in Maeโs face. โProfessor Beckett, there must be some mistake. It must be a misunderstanding!โ Mae stammered, trying to defend herself, her words tumbling in panic.
โA misunderstanding?โ Ronan retorted. โYou were caught on the library camera picking on another student, and the hospitalโs medical report outlined all the injuries. This has turned into a criminal matter, and the cops are going to handle you for assault and bullying. I hope everyone here gets that youโre all grown-ups and should understand the law and what happens when you break it.โ
The room fell silent, no one daring to speak.
At that moment, the police entered. One officer looked directly at Mae. โMae Garcia, right? Please come with us.โ
Mae went pale. With graduation around the corner, she had never imagined sheโd get expelled, let alone be taken away by the police! She desperately looked at Eloise, pleading, โEllie! Ellie, please help me! Ellie!โ
But Eloise remained motionless, not just because of Ronanโs presence but also because Maeโs expulsion was a done deal, and sheโd have a criminal record. In their elite circle, one couldnโt afford to be associated with someone like that.
As the police escorted Mae away, a deathly silence filled the classroom.
Everyone knew Ronan was the head of the Beckett Group, and his teaching stint at Summit University was a hobby. He usually wouldnโt bother with something like this. But his direct involvement in announcing Maeโs expulsion meant he advocated for Freya.
โWhatโs the deal between Freya and Mr. Beckett, anyway? It canโt be like the rumors say that theyโreโฆโ
โStop it. Thereโs no way Mr. Beckett would fall for someone like Freya!โ
โExactly. After Freya got dumped by Mr. Sutton, who in Echo City would dare to have anything to do with her?โ
As a few girls in the class chatted, Ronanโs gaze glided over them. Feeling the intensity of Ronanโs look, the girls quickly zipped their lips.
