Chapter 248

Nancy couldn’t help but stare at Freya, surprised by her reaction. Why would anyone be happy about their ex-fiancé going on dates?

“It’s all good, Nancy. Thanks,” Freya said, feeling relief wash over her. It looked like her stay at the Sutton Mansion would end sooner rather than later. It was time to dust off and move on!

Just then, Freya’s phone buzzed with a new message. It was from Ronan. She quickly opened the chat. It said: [I’ll send a car for you at noon.]

That lifted Freya’s spirits. It must have been about the Southern Suburbs project. Discussing the project at the Dawsons’ or Kieran’s was complicated. Ronan’s timing couldn’t have been better. Freya promptly sent Ronan a ‘thumbs up’ emoji in response.

As noon approached, Kieran leaned back in his chair in the Sutton Group’s office, exhausted. Before he could even take a moment to rest, Jarrett came in. “Mr. Sutton, Mrs. Sutton has sent a reminder. Ms. Miller has left. It would be rude to keep her waiting.”

“Understood.” Kieran’s face remained expressionless. He checked his phone for any messages, hoping for something personal amid the work-related notifications. Finding none, he frowned and asked, “What’s Freya up to today?”

“Ms. Dawson? She’s probably not going anywhere, just resting at home with her condition.”

“Right.”

“Have you found that international medical team for her yet?” Kieran asked, his voice flat.

“No news from the hospital director yet, but I’ll follow up.”

“Do that quickly.”

“Yes, sir.” Seeing Kieran’s concern for Freya, Jarrett couldn’t help but comment, “Mr. Sutton, it’s rare to see you this concerned about someone other than Ms. Harwood. Do you have feelings for Ms. Dawson?”

Before Jarrett could finish, Kieran glared at him coldly, “I’m arranging medical care for her as compensation for a misunderstanding.”

“Of course, Mr. Sutton,” Jarrett quickly averted his gaze.

“And who would fall for someone like Freya? Juggling two men, a liar, vain, ungrateful?”

Jarrett understood the accusations except for the ungrateful bit. What kind of debt did Mr. Sutton think he owed Ms. Dawson?

Meanwhile, Flavia Miller glanced at her watch at Taste Terrace, annoyed. “Mr. Sutton hasn’t arrived yet?”

“Ms. Miller, Mr. Sutton is busy. He should be here shortly.”

Flavia tried to suppress her irritation. After all, Kieran was a catch, and every girl in Echo City dreamed of marrying into the Sutton family—a privilege bestowed upon her family.

“Mr. Sutton is here!”

Alerted by her bodyguard, Flavia quickly straightened up, ready to present her best self to Kieran.
