Chapter 250
In the cityโs social whirl, who wasnโt aware of how Freya once bent over backward to please Kieran? Back in the day, when Flavia heard about Freyaโs attempts to curry favor with Kieran, she was full of disdain. But then, when it was her turn, Flavia couldnโt find it in herself to laugh. If someone as adept at playing the game as Freya could get dumped by Kieran, what about her?
โIf you canโt do it, you might as well head home, grab a hot cocoa, and hit the sack.โ
Kieran didnโt have time for Flaviaโs fake chatter. Just as he was about to leave, a familiar face caught his eye.
โMs. Dawson, this way, please.โ A waiter promptly assisted Freya toward the private dining room. Nursing a bad leg, Freya could only rely on the waiterโs support to walk to Ronanโs reserved room.
The door to the room swung open, and Freya saw Ronan wiping the corner of his mouth as if he had just finished a hearty meal. โYouโre late.โ
Ronan frowned when he looked up and saw Freya limping and covered in bruises. After a moment, Ronan finally asked, โCar accident?โ
Freya smiled wryly and said, โSpent a night in the slammer and got roughed up. Do you believe it?โ
โI do,โ Ronan replied nonchalantly. โAfter all, to get out of your engagement with Kieran, I wouldnโt put anything past you.โ
Ronan had seen Freyaโs tactics firsthand, especially after the discovery of the spring on the Southern Suburb land. He was even more convinced of Freyaโs cunning.
โThanks for the compliment.โ Struggling, Freya sat opposite Ronan. Ronan examined Freyaโs injuries and mentioned, โEloiseโs sidekick, Mae, got expelled.โ
โIs that so? That was quick. Thanks!โ
โIt wasnโt for you. It was for the sake of order at the school.โ
โThen, thanks to Mr. Beckettโs strict discipline.โ
โDonโt mention it.โ Ronan placed a stamped document before Freya, saying, โThis contains all the contracts for the Southern Suburb and the new identity you requested.โ
Freya took the documents, noticing the ID bore her photo, albeit retouched and made up, making her appear even more stunning than in reality.
โSusan?โ Freyaโs brow furrowed. โCould this name be any more old-fashioned?โ
โIt was off the cuff. I think itโs fine,โ Ronan stated. โIf you donโt want Kieran to find out youโre the owner of the Southern Suburb, I suggest you make good use of this identity and not get caught. Otherwise, Kieran, that vampire, will bleed the Southern Suburb dry in no time.โ
โIโm not that naรฏve. Otherwise, I wouldnโt have thought to put the Southern Suburb in your name early on.โ
As Freya flipped through her new personal files, she commented, โA financial PhD, returning from abroad, fluent in eight languages, with extensive experience in managing companies, and now appointed as the CEO of the W Group subsidiary of the Beckett Group?โ
After reading this, Freya looked at Ronan and asked, โDid you even consider how Iโd feel when you were making all this up?โ
