Chapter 276
โYeah, right.โ
โAre doctors rolling in dough these days?โ
โMs. Dawson, Iโm not just any doctor. Iโm a doctor from a wealthy family.โ As Neil said this, he opened the door, inviting Freya into the car.
โMs. Dawson, thereโs no need to be nervous. Itโs rare to mingle with people from different worlds in our circles since weโre all on the same financial level. You donโt have to suspect any ulterior motives from me.โ
Freya smiled. โI donโt think you have ulterior motives. Iโm just genuinely curious why Preston asked you to treat me.โ
โThatโs a question you should ask him, Ms. Dawson.โ
โAre you close with him?โ
โWeโre friends, I guess.โ
โHe has friends?โ Freya found it hard to imagine. Interacting with someone like Preston must be quite the ordeal.
โMs. Dawson, you donโt really know Preston. He might come off as awful to those on the outside, but once you get to know him, youโll find heโs even worse than you imagined.โ
Listening to Neilโs attempt at humor, Freya forced a smile. It was not funny since she was starting to understand what he meant.
As Neil drove, it wasnโt until they were halfway there that Freya realized something was off. โThis isnโt the way to my place.โ
โMs. Dawson, quick on the uptake.โ Neil had deliberately taken three turns away from Freyaโs apartment, yet she still noticed they werenโt heading toward her place.
โWhere are you taking me?โ asked Freya.
โPreston messaged me, insisting I bring you to see him.โ Neil said it and added meaningfully, โSeems like Preston is finally in love with someone.โ
Freya frowned. โDr. Anderson, your jokes are not funny.โ
โEnough teasing,โ Neil continued. โHe has serious business with you but is not interested in you romantically. After all, Iโve never seen Preston show interest in any woman.โ
โAre you suggestingโฆ heโs into men?โ
When Freya asked this, Neil paused, then shushed toward her, โShush, I didnโt say anything.โ
Freya twitched her lips. She wouldnโt believe a word Neil said if she hadnโt known Prestonโs deep love for Eloise in the past life. Shortly after, Neil parked the car outside Tyler Mansion.
Freya couldnโt believe Preston lived in such a place as she followed Neil out of the car.
โThis houseโฆ has it been here for twenty or thirty years?โ Freya looked around. Even though they were in the city center, this villa stood alone, easily overlooked.
Moreover, from the outside, it looked like a very simple two-story villa with a vintage vibe, almost entirely covered in ivy creeping up toward the second-floor windows.
Neil explained, โHe has always liked it here, mainly because itโs secluded and hard to spot. Thatโs why he chose this place.โ
Neil led Freya inside. Hans opened the door as if he had timed their arrival precisely as they entered.
Noticing Neilโs arm supporting Freya, Hans said nothing, but Neil explained naturally, โMs. Dawson has trouble walking. Iโm just helping her.โ
Hans spoke in a measured tone, โMr. Tyler is waiting for you.โ
