Chapter 294

Checking the wound and finding nothing amiss aside from a slight warmth, Preston lifted his head and said, โ€œYouโ€™ve had too much to drink.โ€

Facing Prestonโ€™s calm response, Freya cried harder. โ€œWhy did you trick me into drinking? Dad always said girls shouldnโ€™t drink too much! Youโ€™re not a good guy!โ€

Preston rubbed his forehead, admitting that letting Freya drink to fall asleep was a terrible idea. Finally, he conceded to Freyaโ€™s accusations and said, โ€œOkay, Iโ€™m not a good guy. So, what do you want now?โ€

Freya sniffled, โ€œYouโ€ฆ you apologize to me.โ€

Preston silently observed as Freya rambled on. Seeing her tears escalate, Preston finally compromised, โ€œOkay, Iโ€™m sorry.โ€

โ€œThat didnโ€™t sound sincere!โ€

โ€œWhat counts as sincere?โ€

โ€œMake a contract, saying youโ€™ll never bully Freya again or make her join your crazy schemes!โ€

โ€œMaybe I should offer you compensation, too?โ€

โ€œYep!โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re not even drunk.โ€ Preston stood up, refusing to deal with Freyaโ€™s tantrum on the couch any longer.

But as he turned to leave, Freya suddenly stood up, yelling, โ€œDonโ€™t you dare walk away! Ah!โ€

Freya stumbled forward, trying to grab Prestonโ€™s sleeve but missing because he moved away too quickly. Almost instantly, Preston turned and caught Freya in his arms. โ€œDone with your tantrum?โ€

โ€œYeah.โ€

Preston smelled strongly of tobacco, and Freya instinctively wanted to push him away but lacked the strength.

โ€œIf youโ€™re done, go back to sleep.โ€

โ€œI canโ€™t stand up.โ€ Freyaโ€™s legs were sore, having arrived without her cane.

โ€œWant me to carry you?โ€

โ€œNot reallyโ€ฆ Ah!โ€

Before she could finish, Preston hoisted her onto his shoulder.

The sudden loss of balance sobered Freya up. โ€œPreston! Please put me down! I can walk!โ€

Regardless of Freyaโ€™s protests, Preston ignored her. Being tall, Freya felt her insides churn from the height, her stomach burning. Eventually, Preston threw Freya onto the bed.

Freya landed with a wince, tears blurring her vision as she looked at Preston and said, โ€œNow I really canโ€™t move.โ€

โ€œWhat are you two doing up so late?โ€

Rubbing his sleepy eyes, Neil emerged from his room. Spotting the scene, he froze, โ€œPreston! What have you done?โ€

Entering, Neil was hit by the overwhelming smell of alcohol.

Frowning, Neil said, โ€œSheโ€™s injured. How could she drink?โ€

He then adjusted Freyaโ€™s position, but even the slightest movement caused her pain in her injured back.

Unable to hold back his frustration, Neil snapped, โ€œPreston! Do you think sheโ€™s one of your buddies? You canโ€™t throw a girl on the bed like that!โ€

โ€œI, I didnโ€™t know.โ€ Preston had never been this close to a woman. He only thought Freya was light and didnโ€™t realize his mistake until it was too late.
