The principal said, “Just post a clarification on our school’s forum. Say that after our investigation, Eloise is not suspected of cheating for now. Let’s not blow this out of proportion among the students.”

It seemed like the only option left. If he couldn’t calm the storm, his tenure as principal would be considered a failure.

Meanwhile, “This is outrageous! The school is just brushing the issue under the rug? Then what was the point of me going through all the trouble of hiring those online mercenaries?” Una was visibly fuming.

In just an afternoon, all their posts were banned. Although many students still wanted to discuss the issue, the school’s official website had already posted a stern warning. They were forbidden from continuing the discussion; otherwise, they would face consequences.

“I expected as much, no need to get so worked up.”

“What? You expected this?” Luna was stunned. “You knew the school would suppress this?”

“Of course,” Freya said. “Who is Eloise? She’s Kieran’s favorite, and given Kieran is our school’s biggest benefactor, as long as there’s no concrete evidence or major public outcry, the school’s totally going to cover for Eloise.”

“Then why did we even bother?” Luna felt deflated, like a balloon losing air. Had she known, she wouldn’t have put in so much effort, only for Eloise to get off scot-free.

“Don’t worry, our efforts weren’t wasted. Eloise must have cheated; otherwise, the school wouldn’t have stepped in to smooth things over without even providing the basic evidence. Now, the more the school tries to suppress this issue, the more people will talk about it over coffee and dinner. Everyone’s not a fool; such obvious shielding is plain for all to see.”

Besides, Eloise’s exam paper was strikingly similar to the answer sheet. This year’s final exam was super tough, leaving a bunch of students complaining. If it was found that someone had access to the answers in advance, it would cause an uproar, especially since the school had caught a group of cheaters just the day before. If they only targeted students without connections while letting off those with backing, it would spark significant public outrage. “So, you’re saying… after today, you have more dirt to spill?”

Luna’s eyes sparkled with anticipation. She knew Freya wouldn’t let it go so easily!

“Just wait and see. Eloise’s cheating will be exposed tomorrow.”

Because of the school’s intervention, the forums were silent about Eloise’s cheating. On the second day, as the controversy brewed, Luna rushed to the bulletin board in the teaching building first thing in the morning to check the exam results. Because of adjustments, the test was even harder than the day before. Yet, Eloise still topped the list. Luna searched in vain for Freya’s score. Just as Luna was puzzled, she suddenly noticed a score at the very bottom of the bulletin board.
