“How could I possibly regret it? If Mr. Sutton wants to leave, it’s music to my ears.” Freya spoke with a poker face. Given what she knew about Kieran’s personality, he definitely couldn’t stand being humiliated by a woman like this.
Just then, Ronan approached them. It was clear from his deliberate pace that he was intentionally heading their way. Kieran, who had initially wanted to strike up a conversation with Victoria, instantly lost interest.
“I heard one of my students was cornered here, so I thought I’d come and check it out. Didn’t expect to find Mr. Sutton.” Ronan effortlessly positioned himself beside Freya. Together, they looked like a match made in heaven. Kieran had never found the sight of these two together so irritating before.
“Mr. Sutton was just here for a casual chat, but I think he might be wanting to leave now, right, Mr. Sutton?” Freya clearly sided with Ronan; their relationship seemed closer, making Kieran feel like an outsider. And to think Freya was once his fiancée.
“Yeah, we’re done here. You two carry on.” Kieran turned and left the academic building.
Jarrett had never seen Kieran with such a dark expression before. He hesitated before stepping forward, asking, “Mr. Sutton… Did your conversation with Ms. Dawson not go well?” Everything had been fine on the way to the school, but now Kieran was visibly upset, probably because of Ms. Dawson.
Without saying a word, Kieran was deeply invested in a woman for the first time. But Freya had just said those things.
“From now on, I don’t want to hear anything about Freya. Keep your mouth shut about her.” Kieran left these words behind and strode off towards the school exit.
Hearing this, Jarrett was stunned. He had heard such declarations from Mr. Sutton three times before. Yet, every time he failed to report Ms. Dawson’s whereabouts, he would end up getting a scolding from Mr. Sutton. So, should he believe Kieran this time or not?
Back inside the academic building, Freya let out a long sigh. Ronan raised an eyebrow, saying, “Congratulations are in order for graduating top of your class.”
“How did you know? I thought you’d come to tell me about my zero score.”
“Just came out of an emergency meeting. Two members of the student council have been expelled, reinstating your exam score. Though, the paper was damaged beyond recognition, you’ll have to retake it. It’s to silence any critics.”
“And you’re congratulating me for being top of the class?”
“I’ve seen your paper. You’re undeniably the best. A retake won’t pose any difficulty for you.”
“Well, then I’ll take your word for it.”
At this point, Freya paused, then added, “Wait, you said two members of the student council were expelled? What about Eloise?”
“Eloise graduated smoothly.”
