Chapter 405
Alison swiftly dialed 911. Within the Dawson household, Johanna and Leland had barely caught their breath when the sound of police sirens echoed from outside. Johanna was momentarily stunned by what she saw. Leland was even more baffled. What on earth was going on today? Why were the cops showing up at their doorstep?
Before Johanna could even process the situation, the police had already filed in, with one officer immediately handcuffing Johanna’s wrists, stating, “Johanna, you’re being arrested on charges of financial fraud. We’re acting on a report and need to take you in for questioning.”
“What financial fraud? I’ve done nothing wrong!”
Johanna panicked, but the officer was indifferent to her protests, coldly stating, “We’ll discuss this at the station. Take her away!”
“Why are you taking my mom? Let her go!” Leland attempted to follow, but the officers paid him no heed. He could only watch helplessly as his mother was led away by the police.
Everything about today was utterly bizarre. Leland immediately tried to call Freya. But the call that went through without issue just moments ago was now mysteriously unreachable. “Why isn’t she answering?” Leland’s frustration grew darker. With Johanna in trouble, Freya was the first person Leland thought of for help. Without Freya, he couldn’t think of anyone else who could possibly get his mother out of this mess.
Meanwhile, inside the offices of The Dawson Group, Freya saw her phone buzzing non-stop with calls from Leland. She immediately knew Johanna must have been detained by the police.
“Miss, as you instructed, all the evidence has been submitted. Johanna will definitely be facing jail time this round.”
“We won’t be providing Johanna any legal assistance. Understood?”
“Yes.” Alison nodded, unable to resist glancing up at Freya more than once. Previously, the young lady had seemed uninterested in the world beyond her personal bubble, never meddling in the company’s affairs even when Mr. Dawson was around. He hadn’t expected her to act so decisively and efficiently, managing to deal with Johanna so effortlessly in less than a month. “Alison, gather some folks, and let’s head home,” Freya said with a slight smile.
“Miss, is this…?”
Freya’s smile broadened slightly. “It’s time for an eviction.”
