The Amazing Son-in-Law: Chapters 486-490
Chapter 486
Ichiro angrily accused Charlie Wade, "My father died after taking your medicine! Do you deny it?"
Charlie Wade shrugged. "You stole the medicine. Do you remember the whole process? You stole it!" He continued, "You stole the poison and gave it to your father. He died after taking it."
Ichiro was stunned. Charlie Wade was right. He'd had his men steal the medicine from Anthony, unaware it was poison, not a miracle cure. He couldn't sue Anthony or Charlie Wade; he was the burglar. His family, especially his brother, would never forgive him; they'd accuse him of murdering his father.
Overcome with guilt, Ichiro knelt, weeping and pleading, "Mr. Wade, it was my fault! I sent my men to steal Dr. Simmons's 'miracle medicine.'"
Charlie Wade offered a solution. "I can hide you at the dog farm. Your brother and the Japanese gang won't find you there."
Relieved, Ichiro profusely thanked him. Charlie Wade accepted his gratitude but added, "You must earn your keep. You'll work at the farm—walking dogs, cleaning up after them, and generally caring for them."
Though unhappy, Ichiro agreed. Charlie Wade instructed Albert to oversee Ichiro's work and keep an eye on him. Ichiro left with Albert.
Isaac then cautiously asked, "Mr. Wade, are you really keeping this Japanese man at the dog farm?"
Charlie Wade smiled. "I'm waiting for his brother to raise the price on his head. As long as Ichiro lives, his brother's position at Kobayashi Pharma remains unstable."
Isaac gasped, "So, Ichiro is as good as dead?"
"He deserves to die!" Charlie Wade sneered. "Kobayashi Pharma repeatedly copied ancient Chinese medicine, and Ichiro even came to Aurous Hill to steal from Dr. Simmons. They invaded our country and stole from us! They must pay."
Isaac questioned whether this constituted kidnapping, whether the Kobayashi family had paid enough.
Charlie Wade smiled, "No. Ichiro must pay for his actions!"
Chapter 487
Ichiro was unaware of Charlie Wade's plan to sell him to his brother. Charlie Wade felt no sympathy; he hated Ichiro. He'd been vigilant; otherwise, Anthony's stolen medicine could have killed many.
While unsure if the Japanese could reverse-engineer his prescription, he believed their actions warranted retribution. The six men in black, Masao, and Ichiro—all were responsible for their fates.
Isaac drove Charlie Wade home before dawn. Isaac gained a new understanding of Charlie Wade's power. He’d initially thought Charlie Wade was just a humble young lord, reliant on the Wade family. Now, he realized his strength and influence. The rich and powerful of Aurous Hill respected him, and he’d used his strategies to punish Kobayashi Pharma, taking Masao's life and ten billion dollars from the family. Soon, Ichiro would pay the ultimate price. Isaac felt newfound respect and fear.
Charlie Wade was quiet during the ride. Before arriving home, he instructed Isaac, "Don't report today's events to the Wade family."
Isaac readily agreed. He saw this as his chance to prove himself to Charlie Wade and rise within the Wade family ranks. He resolved to serve Charlie Wade completely.
Charlie Wade, pleased with Isaac’s loyalty, inquired about Kenneth (Wilson family) and Kian (Webb family).
Isaac reported Kenneth's severe penis ulceration—over eighty percent irreparable, requiring amputation—and his plan to attack the Weaver family.
Charlie Wade grinned, "I believe Kenneth took some unconventional medicine." Isaac confirmed it was a new Weaver family drug that had gone wrong.
Chapter 488
Charlie Wade knew Kenneth's member would never fully recover. Even if Anthony had given him the pills, they wouldn't have helped. Taking more random medication would only worsen the tissue necrosis. The Weaver family was in serious trouble with Kenneth's relentless revenge.
Isaac informed Charlie Wade that Kian Webb was institutionalized at Castle Optimal Psychiatric Health Center with a strange disease, calling it a bizarre situation.
Charlie Wade asked about Kian's father and brother. Isaac explained that Kian's grandfather, Lord Webb, was the current head, but Kian's father, Donald, was increasingly managing the family business, likely as the next head. Kian's brother, Sean, recently graduated from Cambridge and was entering the family business under Donald's tutelage, seen as Donald's successor.
Charlie Wade understood the Webb family's power but remained unfazed. He'd taught Kian a lesson because of his ruthlessness. If the Webb family sought retribution, he'd deal with them.
Isaac dropped Charlie Wade off. Charlie Wade thanked him for his work and urged him to rest.
Arriving home, he found his wife, Claire, and father-in-law asleep. He was relieved to see Claire sleeping peacefully.
Chapter 489
Claire awoke around seven. Charlie Wade pretended to be asleep. Claire, noticing him on the floor, felt a pang of sadness. He’d slept there for over three years since their marriage. Initially indifferent, she now felt secure with him. She feared losing him. Recent events solidified her reliance on him; her family was unreliable, her mother viewed her as a tool for wealth, and her father offered no support. She felt safest with Charlie Wade.
Suddenly, her mother, Elaine Ma, barged into the room. Claire asked why she’d entered without knocking. Elaine, seeing Charlie Wade sleeping on the floor, insisted he never sleep on the bed.
Elaine Ma said she dreamt Claire was pregnant and rushed to check. She admonished Claire against letting Charlie Wade on the bed. Claire retorted that it was none of her business.
Elaine shouted back that Claire was her daughter and everything she did was her business. She refused to let Charlie Wade touch her daughter. Claire argued that Charlie Wade had saved her life.
Elaine Ma, ignoring this, stated that Claire’s most valuable asset was her beauty and body, essential for marrying a billionaire after a divorce.
Claire, angry, went to wash. Elaine tried to continue the argument.
Charlie Wade opened his eyes, disgusted by his mother-in-law, vowing to deal with her later.
Chapter 490
Charlie Wade woke up, washed, and went out before returning home. Claire left for work after breakfast. Elaine Ma took her father, Jacob, to the Thompson First villa.
Elaine was impatient with the renovations’ slow progress. Jacob tried to reason that the villa was large, requiring considerable time. Elaine didn't care; she wanted it finished by next month. She threatened to make Jacob move into the unfinished villa if it wasn't done by then.
Jacob was reluctant; he tried to explain the renovation process but she threatened to throw out his vintage collection. Jacob quickly relented because of his love for his collection of vintage items. He even stopped eating his crullers to hasten his departure.
Seeing the family gone, Charlie Wade called Graham for herbal supplies for the rejuvenation pill. He received a call from Anthony, who had heard about Masao Kobayashi's death. Anthony suspected a connection to the pills Charlie Wade had given him. Charlie Wade confirmed the pills were poison, not miracle medicine. Anthony was shocked and expressed gratitude for Charlie Wade's foresight.
During the conversation, Anthony's granddaughter announced that Jeffrey and Liam Weaver had arrived. Anthony wondered why. Charlie Wade smiled, anticipating that they were begging for help after Kenneth’s injuries. Anthony confirmed he wouldn't help Kenneth even if he were dying before him.
