Charlie Wade didn't immediately return home after leaving Emerald Green Court. Reflecting on the past, he and Claire Wilson had rushed to register their marriage at the request of Lord Wilson, Claire's grandfather, and hadn't had a wedding celebration.
Lord Wilson had planned a lavish wedding, but shortly after their marriage, he fell seriously ill and was hospitalized. He later passed away. The Wilson family largely ignored Charlie Wade, so wedding plans were abandoned.
The first venue that came to mind was Shangri-La's Sky Yard at the Paradise Hotel, Aurouss Hill's finest. The hotel boasted a large area, luxurious décor, a high-end shopping mall, and the city's most elegant banquet hall. A wedding there would cost several million dollars, a small sum for the now-wealthy Charlie Wade. His priority was making his wife happy. He arrived at the Dreamland Resort, intending to book the Sky Yard for their anniversary.
However, he was unaware that Dreamland was a members-only hotel. Membership levels offered varying benefits: standard members could dine in the lobby and stay in standard rooms; silver members had access to private rooms and deluxe rooms; gold members could use the luxurious dining room and luxurious suites; platinum members could dine in the overhead garden and stay in executive suites; and only diamond members could book the Sky Yard or stay in the Presidential Suite.
Before entering, Charlie Wade was stopped by security guards. "Excuse me, sir, please show us your membership card."
His attire was simple and inexpensive, a stark contrast to the other guests.
Charlie Wade said, "I'd like to speak with your hotel manager about booking a venue."
The guard replied flatly, "I'm sorry, you can't enter without a membership card."
"Can I apply for membership now?"
The guard shook his head. "I'm sorry, you need a referral."
Frustrated, Charlie Wade wondered why Dreamland was so difficult. He then remembered Sabrina Lee, a classmate from his senior year at Aurous University, who worked there. He called her.
After explaining his situation, Sabrina said, "Don't worry, class rep, I've got this! I'll be there." Charlie Wade thanked her.
Their connection, though limited to a year of college, remained to some degree. He intended to return the favor. Moments later, a woman's voice echoed from inside the hotel.
"Hey, class rep!"
Charlie Wade saw a woman in business attire with heavy makeup. It was Sabrina, looking significantly different. The guards bowed and greeted her politely, "Miss Lee."
Charlie Wade was surprised. "Wow, Sabrina, it's been a while! You're a manager at Dreamland. That's impressive!"
Sabrina smiled. "Class rep, you're too kind. I'm just a low-to-mid-level manager in HR."
Charlie Wade insisted, "It's still great. I heard Dreamland has high standards."
Sabrina laughed, then turned to the guards. "Did you stop my classmate, refusing him entry?"
The guards looked anxious. One said, "I'm sorry, Miss Lee. We didn't know he was your classmate. He didn't have a membership card, and we were following procedure"
Sabrina snorted. "Procedure is important, but people matter more. Don't you understand that?"
Charlie Wade quickly said, "Sabrina, don't blame them; they're just doing their job."
Sabrina looked at Charlie Wade, then laughed. Her expression changed, and she began to tease. "My dear class rep, you think you're someone, don't you? Did you really think I'd punish my staff for you?"
Charlie Wade frowned. "What do you mean?"
Sabrina smirked. "Am I not obvious? Do you think a loser like you can get into Dreamland?"
Charlie Wade clenched his fists. "What the hell do you mean?"
"I'm teasing you!" Sabrina grinned. "I disliked you in college. How could a loser who only studied and couldn't afford a decent meal be my classmate? Didn't you look in a mirror?"
Charlie Wade said coldly, "Sabrina Lee, I never bothered you, so why are you mocking me?"
