The Amazing Son in Law

Chapter 1131

Donald was furious when he saw the video of the Wilson family's hospital brawl. He hadn't anticipated the filming, especially its release so soon after his announced investment in the Wilson Group. It felt like a deliberate attempt to humiliate him—a public self-slap! The aggressive tone of the online post enraged him. He believed the platform was biased against him, citing previous incidents: the spread of Lloyd and his son's argument, and the widely publicized annihilation of Marcone and his gang. This latest Wilson family scandal, also promoted by the platform, seemed like a targeted attack. He hadn't provoked them, yet they relentlessly targeted him and the Webb family, irreparably damaging their reputation. The ensuing national outrage was predictable. People condemned the Webbs for investing in the scandalous Wilson family.

Thomas Webb confronted Donald: "Brother, this family is a disgrace. We should cut ties immediately."

Donald shook his head. "It's too late. Even if we withdraw now, the damage is done. Everyone's focusing on the Wilson family's antics, but families like ours are the real targets of national ridicule. The Beggar Gang incident had a far greater impact than this Wilson family scandal. Let them scold; it's insignificant in comparison."

Thomas remained angry, insisting they sever ties. Donald countered: "Will that restore our reputation? We need to maintain alliances. Abandoning the Wilsons now will damage our future partnerships. We must stand by them, to show potential allies that the Webb family doesn't abandon comrades—especially in our fight against Charlie Wade."

Thomas finally understood. "Brother, what about the men we sent to Golim Mountain?"

Donald replied coldly, "They'll act tonight. They'll retrieve the Weavers and eliminate Charlie Wade's remaining men."

Chapter 1132

Late at night, at the foot of Golim Mountain, Jeffrey and Jordan Weaver emerged, bundled in deerskin jackets. The temperature had plummeted to minus 30 degrees Celsius. They were gathering ginseng to exchange for food, medicine, kerosene, and firewood. After a day of searching, they'd only found six or seven small ginseng roots—barely enough for tomorrow's rations. Exhausted and hungry, Jordan's lips were purple. Jeffrey, though stronger, was also struggling. The snow made traversing the mountains difficult, forcing them deeper each time. They were returning at midnight, and soon might have to spend nights in the mountains.

Jordan grabbed snow, put it in his mouth, and said, "Son, I may not survive the winter. If I die, you must live, avenge our family, reclaim Weaver Pharmaceuticals, and kill those in Aurouss Hilll."

Jeffrey tried to comfort him, pointing out that Jordan seemed healthier since living in the mountains, exercising and gathering ginseng daily.

Jordan agreed, acknowledging that his previous lifestyle had taken its toll. He urged Jeffrey to avoid his mistakes.

Jeffrey, sitting beside his father, sighed, "I'd love to live like you did, but where would I find a woman to 'overdraw' my vitality in this godforsaken place?"

Jordan chuckled. Jeffrey, unlike his father, had a modest romantic history.

Thinking of women, Jeffrey sighed for Wendy Wilson, hoping to see her again.

Jordan patted his son's shoulder. "Son, we will overcome this."

Chapter 1133

As the Weavers dreamt of a better future, a fierce wind swept down Golim Mountain.

Jordan exclaimed, "This wind is brutal! Let's go!"

The father-son bond had strengthened significantly during their shared hardship. Jordan, though selfish, treated Jeffrey fairly. Jeffrey, previously a playboy estranged from his father due to his mother's influence, found himself increasingly reliant on his father. Survival depended on their cooperation.

They walked toward a distant light, the village where they lived.

Jeffrey said, "Dad, Lee hunted a roe deer. Let's visit him; maybe we can get some meat!"

Jordan doubted this; Lee was stingy.

Jordan revealed Lee's name was Lee Wendell, who couldn’t write his own name properly. Jeffrey joked about teaching Lee to write in exchange for meat. Jordan complained that Lee wouldn't even give him pigskin before. Jeffrey planned to stealthily steal some meat.

Chapter 1134

Jordan wished for some wine to warm them during their ginseng gathering. Jeffrey suggested asking Widow Lee, who might have hidden alcohol.

They reached the village and went to Lee's house. Lee was the village's only hunter.

Jeffrey, desperate for meat, spotted hanging roe deer in Lee's yard. He climbed over the wall, stole a leg, and returned to his father, excited about their week's worth of food.

Suddenly, a dozen masked men, armed with knives and pistols, emerged from the darkness.

Jeffrey pleaded, "We only stole some meat!"

Jordan urged him to return the meat. Jeffrey dropped it.

One masked man asked, "Are you Jordan and Jeffrey Weaver?"

Jordan nodded. The man stated, "We're from the southern Webb family, here to rescue you. The car is waiting."

The Weavers were stunned, then wept with joy.

Chapter 1135

Previous rescue attempts had failed. The Weavers were shocked and grateful for the Webb family’s intervention. Jordan asked why they were being rescued. The man replied, "Our employer has a common enemy: Charlie Wade."

The Weavers were astonished that Charlie Wade had provoked the powerful Webb family.

They arrived at the village entrance, where several off-road vehicles waited.

Suddenly, gunshots erupted. A Webb family member fell. A gun battle ensued between the Webb family's men and unseen attackers.

The villagers remained indoors, frightened. The Webb family men were at a disadvantage, fighting in the open against hidden opponents. The Weavers watched helplessly as the Webb family members fell. Only one driver escaped; the others were killed.
