Chapter 1206

Travis Lane, hesitant to take the rejuvenation pill, quickly said, "Master Wade, I haven't paid yet. I'll contact the company's finance department and transfer the money to your account immediately."

Charlie Wade nodded, smiled, produced his black Citibank card, and handed it to Travis. "This is my card. Transfer the funds here."

Sam was stunned. That was a Citibank black card—one of only a handful in the country. Citibank's privacy protection for these cardholders was notoriously stringent. What was Charlie Wade's background?

Suddenly, Charlie Wade looked at Sam and smiled. "Master Kilgore, your necklace is worth $20 million; my pill, $2 billion. Who's wealthier needs no explanation."

Sam's face was grim. What the hell are these people? he thought. Two billion for a pill? Insanity! But retracting his words was impossible. Should he swallow the ruby necklace? It was easy to swallow, but what if it got stuck? Refusing meant facing consequences.

He considered the situation. He didn't know anyone in Aurous Hill, so gossip didn't worry him. However, he wanted to pursue Jasmine. Publicly breaking his word would severely damage his chances.

Just then, Cameron Isaac brandished his phone. "Master Kilgore, I recorded everything. If you tell the third master of the Kilgore family, I'll send this video to Eastcliff's social circles. Consider your options."

Sam stared at Cameron, furious. "Mr. Cameron, we have no quarrel. Why?"

Cameron replied indifferently, "Master Kilgore, you're being unreasonable. I'm fair. This was your provocation. Master Wade and you reached an agreement; why break your promise? Does your family name grant you the right to be frivolous? The Kilgore family was renowned for their integrity. Are you going to tarnish that legacy?"

Sam's face turned ashen. Cameron knew his family history. The Kilgore family's reputation was built on generations of unwavering honesty. If this video leaked, the Kilgore family would be humiliated. His grandfather would impose severe punishment.

He felt a surge of regret. If only I'd known!

Chapter 1207

Sam regretted his actions. He shouldn't have outdone Charlie Wade. This ruby-swallowing act was disastrous. With Cameron present, he dared not back down. He gritted his teeth. "I, Sam, always honor my bets!"

Turning to Jasmine, his face was downcast. "Miss Jasmine, please lend me the necklace."

Jasmine's face fell. Lend it? she thought. Will he return it? Feeling nauseous, she handed him the box. "Master Kilgore, please take it back."

Sam realized his mistake. He couldn't swallow it, clean it, and return it. His expression was dreadful. "I'm sorry, Miss Jasmine. I'll find a more expensive gift later."

Jasmine waved her hand. "No need, Master Kilgore."

Sam, humiliated, looked depressed. Charlie Wade calmly urged, "Master Kilgore, everyone's waiting."

Sam's face darkened. He looked at the necklace, nervous. Swallowing it raw would be difficult; oil would help.

"Grandpa Moore," he said, "please ask the chef for olive oil."

Grandpa Moore nodded, instructing the butler, Oscar, to fetch some.

Charlie Wade smirked. "Master Kilgore's resourceful! Oil lubricates the esophagus, making the $20 million necklace's journey smoother." Everyone laughed.

Sam's face was furious. He would get revenge on Charlie Wade. Cameron impatiently reminded, "Master Kilgore, I'm running out of patience. I'll send the video if you don't comply."

Sam quickly responded, "Isaac, don't worry, I'll eat it!"

He gritted his teeth, drank half a bottle of olive oil, oiled the necklace, closed his eyes, and swallowed. Everyone watched, some recording the event. He swallowed with difficulty, using the rest of the oil. Finally, it was down.

Charlie Wade applauded. "Master Kilgore has a unique talent! I admire him."

Sam felt sick and asked, "Grandpa Moore, where's the bathroom?"

Chapter 1208

Sam's first thought was to vomit up the necklace.

Oscar guided him to the bathroom. Sam tried to vomit but couldn't dislodge the necklace. His throat and esophagus ached; he was exhausted. He gave up.

The thought of surgically removing it terrified him. He called his family doctor, Dr. Lloyd. He explained the situation; the necklace was roughly the size of a quail egg and not sharp.

Dr. Lloyd suggested observation and laxatives for natural excretion. If it wasn't excreted within 24 hours, he warned, intestinal obstruction—a potentially fatal condition—could occur. He urged Sam to come to the hospital immediately.

Sam trembled with rage. This bet had nearly cost him his life! He hated Charlie Wade. But his life was at stake.

He called his private jet's captain, Charles. The plane was about to depart for Eastcliff.

Chapter 1209

The captain was preparing for takeoff. Sam instructed him to delay departure and return to the apron. He needed to return to Eastcliff immediately.

The captain was surprised but complied. Sam left the bathroom, his face grim. He informed Oscar he was leaving.

Oscar was shocked. The banquet hadn't begun. Sam angrily told him to inform Lord Moore that the Moore family had missed a great opportunity. He left.

Oscar reported this to Lord Moore. Lord Moore showed only slight regret before resuming his composure. "Let him go."

Rueben protested, "Grandpa, Master Kilgore wants to cooperate with us. Why let him go?"

Lord Moore replied, "Can we stop him if he wants to leave?"

Rueben argued, "Grandpa, you're overlooking the Kilgore family's intentions—a strategic alliance, solidifying our position as the leading family in Southaven, with the Kilgore family as our powerful Eastcliff backer."

Jasmine scolded Rueben for disrespecting Lord Moore.

Chapter 1210

Lord Moore understood Sam's intentions—to win over the Moore family and marry Jasmine. Before, he would have accepted this alliance. However, his perspective had changed. The real power lay with Charlie Wade, a man whose influence was unknown.

Lord Moore recognized the wealth and power of families like the Wade family, who remained off the rich lists, concealing their immense fortunes. The Kilgore family, not among Eastcliff's top families, focused on local influence. The Wade family, however, wouldn't even notice Southaven families.

Lord Moore no longer valued alliances with prominent Eastcliff families; his priority was maintaining good relations with Charlie Wade. Making Charlie Wade his grandson-in-law was more significant than any family alliance. He knew Jasmine's feelings for Charlie. He desired her happiness. Sam paled in comparison to Charlie Wade.
