The Amazing Son-in-Law: Chapters 1301-1305

Chapter 1301

When Don Albertt shouted, the Carson family reflexively applauded. They were unhappy about the weddings; such events brought shame upon them. However, it was done, and nothing could be changed. Skye, in a wedding dress and with a cold expression, and David Carson, in a suit, walked onto the stage.

The emcee then smiled and announced, “Next, let's welcome our second couple: the groom, Steve, and the bride, Isabella!”

The Carson family reluctantly applauded this pair as well. Leann and David Carson, along with the rest of the family, looked down on Isabella. However, having learned their lesson, they dared not withhold their applause.

Steve and Isabella walked onto the stage hand-in-hand, their affection evident. The atmosphere, however, was awkward. The audience had attended many weddings, but never one with a father and son marrying on the same stage. Even the emcee, a veteran in the Aurouss Hill emcee circle, was flustered. He'd never encountered such a situation. Usually, he'd joke with the parents to lighten the mood, but that was impossible now.

He omitted the usual lighthearted banter and, after a brief introduction, addressed the couples: “Today, Mr. David Carson, Miss Ward, and Miss Stark—four hearts united by love—embark on this solemn and sacred journey!”

“My friends, let us sincerely bless, pray for, and celebrate these two couples, wishing them a bright future! Let's show our warmest applause!”

Despite exchanging uneasy glances, the audience applauded cooperatively.

After the applause subsided, the emcee said, “The Bible says love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; it does not dishonor others, is not self-seeking, is not easily angered, keeps no record of wrongs, does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth; it always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”

“Mr. David Carson, one of our grooms today, do you take Miss Skye to be your wife, in sickness and in health, richer or poorer, to love and cherish her always?”

David Carson nodded. “I do.”

The emcee asked Skye the same question. Overwhelmed with emotion, Skye sobbed, “I… I… I…”

She wanted to refuse and flee, but fearing the consequences of her father's actions, she choked back her protest and cried, “I… do…”

Her heart ached, and she buried her face in her hands, weeping bitterly.

Chapter 1302

The emcee declared, “Oh, Miss Ward is so moved! This is truly a match made in heaven! Let's wish the couple a happy marriage with applause!”

Skye collapsed, squatting and sobbing.

The emcee continued, “Our bride is clearly very excited. Mr. David Carson, how do you feel about marrying such a young and beautiful wife?”

David Carson chuckled. “I’m very excited…”

“Do you feel inspired to recite a poem?” the emcee asked.

David Carson stammered, “I didn’t receive much education; I’m not cultured enough for that.”

“The bride’s parents, Grant Ward and his wife, are here today. Mr. Carson, do you have anything to say to your future in-laws?”

David Carson awkwardly waved at Grant Ward and his wife, whose expressions were tearful, and said, “Please rest assured, I will…”

He wanted to ask about the promised 50 million dowry but feared the consequences.

The emcee announced, “Let’s invite the bride’s parents to the stage!”

The Carson family became a chorus of mechanical applause. Grant Ward and his wife ascended the stage.

The emcee instructed, “Mr. Carson’s father-in-law, please stand before the groom.”

Grant Ward and his wife stood before David Carson, looking uncomfortable.

“Mr. Carson, who is standing before you?” the emcee asked.

“My father-in-law!” David Carson replied hastily.

“Should you change that?” the emcee prompted.

David Carson, stammering, called out, “Dad, Mom!”

Grant Ward's face was grim. This man, his near contemporary, was calling him “Dad”!

Chapter 1303

David Carson was uncomfortable with the idea of kowtowing before so many people. He was over fifty, and it felt humiliating.

The emcee insisted, “Groom, today is your wedding day. Two families become one. You have a beautiful wife, loving in-laws. In Chinese tradition, kneeling and kowtowing to your parents is customary. Why hesitate? Also, traditionally, the bride and groom offer tea to both sets of parents.”

Grant Ward’s wife wept. She didn’t want her daughter marrying this older man but had no choice.

Pressured by the emcee, David Carson knelt, kowtowed to Grant Ward (calling him “Dad”), then to his wife (calling her “Mom”). The couple exchanged depressed looks.

Staff brought chairs for Grant Ward and his wife. The emcee explained, “Since the groom's parents aren't here, the bride and groom will only serve tea to the bride's parents.”

The tearful bride reluctantly knelt beside David Carson. Staff brought two cups of tea. David Carson offered one to Grant Ward, saying, “Dad, please have some tea…”

Grant Ward wanted to throw the tea in his face but, seeing Cameron Isaac watching disapprovingly from the audience, he reluctantly accepted the tea. David Carson then offered tea to Grant Ward’s wife. She, too, despite her reluctance, accepted the tea after her husband glared at her.

The emcee stated, “Drinking the son-in-law’s tea signifies approval. Are you satisfied with the groom?”

Grant Ward sighed, “Satisfied… satisfied…” He was far from satisfied but dared not say so. His wife echoed his insincere statement.

Charlie Wade, amused, observed from the audience, noting the consequences of their unkindness.

Chapter 1304

Steve and Isabella took the stage. The emcee proceeded with the usual formalities and marriage vows. Their love made the moment deeply moving for them.

Steve's emotions were complex, having recently witnessed his parents' divorce and his father's remarriage.

After the ring exchange, the emcee announced, “Let’s invite Steve’s parents to the stage!”

David Carson and Skye reluctantly complied. The audience looked on with disapproval, but Don Albertt and his associates applauded enthusiastically, one even shouting, "Hey, the bride is about the same size as the mother-in-law!"

The emcee, flustered, awkwardly asked if the bride was older or if Skye was younger, prompting laughter from Don Albertt's group. Isabella was slightly older than Skye. The situation became even more awkward. The emcee quickly moved on to the tea ceremony.

When Isabella offered Skye tea and called her "Mom," Skye cried again. The absurdity of her situation—marrying an older man and gaining older in-laws—overwhelmed her.

After Steve and Isabella addressed David Carson and Skye as their new parents, the emcee announced the wedding's conclusion.

Chapter 1305

During the toast, Skye, fearing Charlie Wade's displeasure, joined David Carson in toasting him and Claire Wilson. David Carson nervously said, “Master Wade, thank you for coming. We toast you!”

Charlie Wade responded calmly, “David Carson, treat your wife and child well. Did you hear?”

David Carson blushed and nodded.

Charlie Wade added, “Don’t have any objections about the child’s skin color. Treat him as your own.”

David Carson again nodded.

Charlie Wade continued, “Mr. Cameron will supervise your behavior after marriage. If you don’t change your ways, he will break your legs. Understand?”

David Carson repeatedly nodded. Charlie Wade then excused himself, stating he didn't drink and would meet other guests.

Steve and Isabella then toasted Charlie Wade and Claire, using tea instead of alcohol.

Charlie Wade advised Isabella to maintain distance from her family, avoiding financial entanglements. He warned Steve to support Isabella in this. He looked down upon families who exploited their daughters.

Isabella and Steve agreed. Isabella was also disappointed with her family.

Charlie Wade and Claire Wilson toasted the couple. Charlie Wade then dismissed them to greet other guests. Later, Charlie Wade went to the restroom, followed by Cameron Isaac. Isaac informed Charlie Wade that Sam had undergone surgery in Eastcliff and still hadn't removed the necklace.
