The Amazing Son-in-Law: Chapters 1471-1475 (Cleaned-up Version)
Chapter 1471
Charlie Wade chuckled upon hearing the proposal. "The Kobayashi family is incredibly unreliable," he stated. "They've stolen my magic drug before, and Jiro Kobayashi even paid for his brother's life. Any cooperation will be calculated."
He continued, "And they're Japanese. Cooperation would mean sharing our formula. They'd likely steal it and betray us. We absolutely cannot cooperate."
Liam responded immediately, "Master Wade, I understand. I'll reject Jiro Kobayashi now!"
Charlie Wade smiled. "Knowing the Kobayashi family, they won't give up easily. Expect further trouble. Be careful these next two days. I'll alert Cameron Isaac and Don Albertt to help you."
Liam quickly replied, "Understood, Master Wade. I'll investigate!"
Liam then asked, "Master Wade, our Nova Dias market is booming. Should we expand production? I can apply for industrial land immediately."
Charlie Wade smiled. "Building our own line is too slow. There are several ready-made large production lines available."
Liam was surprised. "Master Wade, are you referring to Kobayashi Pharmaceutical?"
"Yes," Charlie Wade replied. "Ichiro Kobayashi, Jiro's brother, is in my custody. I'll let Ichiro return to inherit the Kobayashi Group, but only if he transfers 80% of Kobayashi Pharmaceutical's shares to me. Otherwise, he'll continue cleaning Don Albertt's kennels!"
Liam exclaimed, "Master Wade, that's brilliant! No wonder you kept Ichiro—it was for this!"
Charlie Wade smiled. "I'll hold Jiro hostage. If Ichiro doesn't cooperate, Jiro goes back to dog-walking. The obedient brother returns to Japan; the disobedient one stays."
"Master Wade, I understand! I'll reject Jiro Kobayashi!"
Liam hung up and returned to the reception room. Jiro Kobayashi stood up expectantly. "Manager Weaver, what did your boss say? He's surely interested in my proposal?"
Liam shook his head. "Mr. Kobayashi, my boss isn't interested. Oracle Pharmaceutical cannot cooperate."
Jiro Kobayashi frowned. "Is he unhappy with the profit split? How about 70/30 in your favor? That shows my sincerity."
Liam responded indifferently, "Our boss's decision is final. It's not about the split, Mr. Kobayashi. Please leave."
Jiro Kobayashi stood up angrily. "Don't think you can get away with a good drug. If necessary, we'll start a price war tomorrow! Kobayashi Niranex will be 50% off!"
Liam replied, "Mr. Kobayashi, we're not afraid of a price war. But since our boss declines cooperation, there's no need to waste time. Use your strategies as you see fit." He turned to his secretary. "Show the guest out."
Jiro Kobayashi left, annoyed.
Chapter 1472
A price war was Jiro Kobayashi's last resort. Similar efficacy would mean mutual harm; inferior efficacy would be disastrous. Niranex's efficacy was significantly lower, yet its cost wasn't lower than Nova Dias. Japanese labor costs, export shipping, and tariffs made Niranex far more expensive than the more potent Nova Dias. A $100 price point might mean losses for Niranex, but still a profit for Nova Dias. Kobayashi was hesitant to start a price war.
His true solution: stealing the formula. He immediately asked his assistant, "Are the Japanese masters in Aurouss Hill?"
The assistant replied, "Mr. Kobayashi, we've mobilized 16 masters; 9 have arrived, 7 more by tonight."
"Excellent," Jiro Kobayashi said. "Ambush Liam tonight, capture him, and torture the formula out of him!"
Chinese patent medicines depend heavily on both the prescription (ingredients and quantities) and the formula (processing and extraction methods). Even knowing the ingredients, getting the ratios right is crucial. The formula, encompassing modern processing methods, is like a complex chemical reaction, including catalysts and timing. The safest, fastest way was to get the entire prescription and formula.
Chapter 1473
Aurora won the international college student Sanda competition. Overwhelmed with excitement and gratitude, she hugged Charlie Wade in the backstage lounge. Mr. Quinton and Steven Quinton discreetly left.
Aurora, in her sports attire, hugged Charlie Wade tightly. "Master Wade, thank you! Without you, I wouldn't have won…"
Charlie Wade patted her back. "Remember, greater ability means greater responsibility. This is just the beginning. Train hard for the Olympics."
Aurora responded, "Master Wade, I've never participated in the Olympics. Will the Olympic Committee consider me?"
Charlie Wade smiled. "They're surely watching. They won't miss a rising star like you."
There was a knock. Mr. Quinton announced, "Aurora, Mr. Liles, the provincial sports director, is here."
Charlie Wade smiled. "See? He's arrived."
Mr. Liles excitedly congratulated Aurora on her performance and then revealed, "I've received a call from the Olympic Organizing Committee. They invite you to join the national Sanda team for the next Olympics. If you accept, you'll train in Eastcliff."
Aurora was overcome with emotion.
Chapter 1474
Aurora accepted the invitation, overjoyed. Mr. Quinton, though wealthy, was equally thrilled. He knelt before Charlie Wade, expressing his gratitude. Aurora and Steven Quinton followed suit.
Charlie Wade congratulated Aurora and urged her to work hard. Mr. Quinton wanted to celebrate, but Charlie Wade excused himself, worried about Nanako Ito's condition and lacking her contact information. He hoped the Ito family doctors were doing everything possible.
Charlie Wade received a call from Stefanie. "Charlie Wade, your Nova Dias Powder is selling incredibly well. Congratulations."
Charlie Wade chuckled. "Thanks to your endorsement!"
Stefanie added, "Many pharmacies are out of stock. Scalpers are selling boxes for 500! It's the medicine itself; it's amazing even without the endorsement." She then sadly revealed, "My father's condition is worsening… pancreatic cancer. The doctors say he might only have three or four months left…"
Chapter 1475
Charlie Wade comforted Stefanie. He asked about Orrin Sun's condition. Stefanie was distraught. Charlie Wade assured her he'd do his best and would come to Eastcliff soon. He had a few days' worth of work to finish.
After the call, Cameron Isaac contacted Charlie Wade, warning him that several Japanese masters had arrived, likely sent by Jiro Kobayashi to target Oracle Pharmaceutical. Charlie Wade planned to teach them a lesson. He instructed Cameron to monitor the masters and work with him. He confirmed his intention to keep Jiro Kobayashi while releasing Ichiro.
Charlie Wade returned home to find his mother-in-law, Elaine Ma, preparing lunch. Elaine happily shared how effective the caviar skincare product was.
