The Amazing Son-in-Law Chapter 1546

Kenneth Wilson said, "I wonder if the metaphysical claims are true, but they seem macroscopic. For example, they might gradually affect luck, but it's unlikely to instantly impact fertility. So, I suspect the boy used some sleight of hand."

Hank asked, "Sleight of hand? What do you mean? Why do you say that?"

Kenneth Wilson explained, "It's like magic. Besides blindfolding, magicians often use misdirection with noise. When they point with their right hand, things are usually hidden in their left. When they show you the hat, the secret is often in their sleeves."

Hank nodded solemnly. "Go on."

Kenneth Wilson continued hurriedly, "Look, Charlie Wade seems to be into metaphysics, but I think this grandson quietly poisoned us. We were distracted when it happened, so we didn't notice."

Hank suddenly remembered something. He sat up straight and exclaimed, "That makes sense! I've been wondering why two of my men were choked and then had muscle weakness. It's likely he quietly poisoned them! Otherwise, how could two top masters inexplicably become useless?"

Orrin interjected, "Second Brother, if he poisoned us, he must have an antidote! Could we recover if we get it from him?"

"Yes!" Hank agreed immediately. "This kid must have a cure! After we finish our business tomorrow, we'll find a way to get the antidote!"

Kenneth Wilson was immediately excited. He had been struggling with his condition and had almost given up. He wasn't willing to accept it, but felt powerless. If he could be cured, he'd pay any price. He knelt, folded his fists, and pleaded, "I'm also a victim. If you two get the antidote, please help me too!"

Hank nodded slightly. "Mr. Wilson, rest assured. We won't forget you."

Kenneth Wilson said excitedly, "Second Lord, thank you! Your kindness is unforgettable!"

Hank hummed, then said, "It's late, Mr. Wilson. Go home and rest. We'll keep you updated."

Kenneth Wilson nodded respectfully. "Second Lord, I'll leave now."

Once Kenneth Wilson left, Orrin hurriedly asked Hank, "Second Brother, what are our chances of making that bastard Wade hand over the cure?"

Hank coldly snorted, "Didn't you hear Kenneth Wilson? This kid's a feng shui charlatan, here for money. As long as he wants money, we're fine. Tomorrow, after the board meeting, I'll use money to make him kneel and call me Lord!"

The Amazing Son-in-Law Chapter 1547

Due to a strong cold front, the temperature in Eastcliff plummeted overnight, and heavy snow fell.

Charlie Wade received a phone alert: a blizzard warning was in effect from that night to the next day.

Wearing only a shirt, Charlie Wade stepped onto his balcony, his parents on his mind. Tomorrow, he would visit their graves—a task postponed for eighteen years.

Lost in thought, he heard Stefanie's voice. "Charlie Wade, aren't you cold in such light clothing?"

Charlie Wade turned. Stefanie had entered the room and approached the balcony.

Stefanie quickly explained, "Excuse me, Charlie Wade. I knocked, but no one answered, so I came in."

Charlie Wade smiled softly. "It's okay. Don't be so formal between us."

Stefanie's face flushed. She approached Charlie Wade. "Charlie Wade, were you thinking about something?"

Charlie Wade nodded. "The past."

Stefanie gently touched, then held his hand. "Charlie Wade, thank you for saving my father's life!"

Charlie Wade said sincerely, "Uncle Orrin is a good friend of my father, an elder I respect. I couldn't stand by while he suffered."

"Yes!" Stefanie nodded. "Charlie Wade, how long will you stay in Eastcliff? I won't accompany my father to the board meeting tomorrow, and after visiting Uncle and Aunt Wade's graves, are you going back?"

Charlie Wade said, "I have personal matters the day after tomorrow. I'll leave then."

Stefanie looked regretful and sad. She looked at him with clear, eager eyes. "Charlie Wade, can't you stay longer? It's almost Chinese New Year. Stay at my house until after the New Year?"

Charlie Wade chuckled. "The New Year is still twenty days away. I can't explain to your sister-in-law if I don't go back."

Stefanie's face hardened. "I don't consider her my sister-in-law, and you're not really my brother. You're my childhood fiancé!"

Charlie Wade shook his head, smiling helplessly. "Okay, you say what you want."

Stefanie felt disappointed. He always reminds me he's married! she thought. But doesn't he know how important his parents' lives are to me? Why can't he be like me?

Sighing, Stefanie held his hand tightly. "Charlie Wade, you're the young master of the Wade family, so capable. Aurous Hill can't contain you. Sooner or later, you'll return to Eastcliff."

Charlie Wade was startled, then said calmly, "We'll talk about that later."

That night, Charlie Wade had a strange dream. His parents were alive; he was the young master of the Wade family, influential in Eastcliff. He was in a fine suit, wearing a boutonniere, leading a luxurious motorcade to the Sun family villa. Stefanie, in a white wedding dress, awaited him. Then, people searched for Stefanie's red shoes

He found the shoes, helped her put them on, and the scene shifted to a magnificent wedding. His parents were there, smiling. Orrin gave Stefanie's hand to him. They exchanged vows, rings, and kisses. Then, Claire Wilson caught the bouquet, but looked resentful

Charlie Wade jolted awake. It was a dream. He was stunned for minutes before recovering. Dawn broke. He washed and went downstairs.

Angie and the servants were preparing breakfast. Orrin, already up, sat in the living room reading the newspaper.

Seeing Charlie Wade, he smiled and waved. "Charlie Wade, come!"

"Good morning, Uncle Orrin," Charlie Wade replied.

Orrin handed him the newspaper. "Look at the front page."

Charlie Wade read the headline: "Sun Group Chairman Critically Ill; Trillion-Dollar Company Leaderless."

Charlie Wade frowned. "This newspaper is irresponsible."

Orrin smiled. "That's my two younger brothers' doing. They spread news of my critical illness to shake investor confidence and lower the Sun Group's stock price."

He checked his watch. "It's half past eight. In an hour, the Sun Group's stock prices will plummet."

Charlie Wade frowned. "Uncle Orrin, they're also shareholders. Isn't this hurting their own interests?"

Orrin shook his head. "For major shareholders, a small stock drop doesn't matter."

He explained, "The most anxious are retail investors. They'll express dissatisfaction. The blame falls on me, making it easier for them to pressure me to step down. Once they succeed, the stock price will recover. They lose nothing—it's a clever strategy."

Charlie Wade understood the second and third Sun brothers' goal. He anticipated their reaction to seeing Orrin's radiant health.

Stefanie came down, saw them reading the newspaper, and asked, "Dad, Charlie Wade, what's the news?"

Orrin smiled. "Your dad made headlines."

Stefanie glanced at the headline, then said angrily, "This is outrageous! The media is irresponsible!"

Orrin laughed. "You're in entertainment. You know the media's habits. Besides, someone's behind this."

Stefanie realized. "Dad, did the second and third uncles do this?"

Orrin nodded. "To pressure me in today's board meeting."

He continued, "They'll probably invite reporters to see me frail and dying."

"That's too much!" Stefanie exclaimed. "Tell them your illness is cured!"

Orrin smiled. "I've told Jason White. No reporters can enter the Sun Group building before the board meeting. A press conference will be held afterward."

Angie joined them. "I'll go with you!"

Orrin waved his hand. "No. Family members can't interfere with work. You two stay home with Charlie Wade. I'll go."

After dinner, Charlie Wade and Orrin went to the Sun Group in a Rolls-Royce, protected by a security team.

They took a private elevator to the 58th floor, a secure area reserved for the chairman. Orrin called Jason White, his deputy.

Jason saw Orrin and was stunned. "Chairman, you look so much better!"

Orrin nodded. "The tumor is gone."

Jason was astonished. "Really? A miracle!"

Orrin nodded. "I think so too."

Jason was excited. "The vice chairmen and directors are discussing your condition. Our stock prices plummeted. They said if you don't step down, they'll plummet further tomorrow. This is great! You can slap them in the face! Announce that you've recovered!"

Orrin smiled. "Naturally. Since they want me to be critically ill, I'll let them see their disappointment!"

He continued, "Jason, tell them I'll preside over the meeting in five minutes."

Jason nodded. "Okay, Chairman!"

Orrin stood and said to Charlie Wade, "Charlie Wade, let's go, to face the enemy!"

Charlie Wade nodded. "Uncle Orrin, lead the way."

Orrin took Charlie Wade to the large conference room where Hank and Carl were waiting, ready to oust Orrin. They had secured the support of minority shareholders and used the morning's news to their advantage. Hank planned to show Orrin the newspaper and the plummeting stock prices, then call for a vote to replace him.
