The Amazing Son-in-Law: Chapters 1591-1595
Chapter 1591
To appease Charlie Wade, Trevor suppressed his sympathy for Sam. He said coldly, “Sam, we’re all adults. You win some, you lose some. No more haggling. Swallow the jade pendant.”
Sam’s face fell.
Trevor continued, “Consider yourself lucky. Last time it was a necklace; this time, just a pendant. Thankfully, it didn't have a chain; otherwise, you'd be swallowing that too!”
Sam, weeping, pleaded with his cousin Loreen, “Loreen, please beg Mr. Wade to let me go! I was wrong. I’ll be his dog, do anything he asks, even bite if he wants, just forgive me!”
Loreen was conflicted. Sam had been disrespectful to Charlie Wade. Though close as children, Loreen now favored her longtime lover, Charlie. She didn't know how to respond to Sam's plea.
Seeing this, Lydia knelt before Loreen, wailing, “Loreen, for your aunt’s sake, beg Mr. Wade! I’m kneeling for you!”
Loreen tried to help her aunt, creating a deadlock. Unable to bear her aunt’s kneeling, Loreen turned to Charlie Wade, pleading, “Charlie Wade, please, forgive my cousin.”
Charlie Wade hesitated, then said, “Let’s talk privately.”
Loreen followed him, nervously watching him for any sign of anger.
Charlie Wade asked, “Regarding the attempted assassination in Aurous Hill, was Sam involved?”
Loreen quickly denied it, explaining it was another cousin who fled abroad after the incident. He wouldn’t be at the birthday celebration.
Charlie Wade then asked if Loreen and Sam had any conflict. Loreen admitted Sam was spoiled and pretended but hadn't done anything truly harmful. She pleaded again for his forgiveness. She gently shook Charlie Wade’s arm, her face pleading and shy.
Charlie Wade, understanding Loreen’s plea, decided to give Sam a chance, but not without punishment.
Chapter 1592
Loreen was overjoyed. Charlie Wade clarified that Sam wouldn't have to swallow the pendant but would face other consequences.
Loreen anxiously asked about the punishment, hoping it wouldn't be worse than swallowing the pendant.
Charlie Wade smiled, assuring her it would be beneficial for Sam. Relieved, Loreen thanked him and offered to repay him.
Charlie Wade was surprised by her offer. Loreen playfully suggested bearing him a child.
Charlie Wade firmly responded, “Don’t say that! I’m your girlfriend’s husband!”
Loreen countered, “It’s a fake marriage! You should both have freedom.”
Charlie Wade sighed, “I’m wasting my breath.”
He returned to the group. Sam knelt, awaiting his sentence.
Charlie Wade said, “Sam, I’m giving you a chance because of Loreen, but it depends on you.”
Sam wept with gratitude. Charlie Wade stated that simply saying sorry wasn’t enough; he needed to show true remorse.
Sam readily agreed to any request. Charlie Wade proposed Sam become Loreen's driver in Aurous Hill for a year, with strict behavior requirements. Any disobedience would result in severe consequences.
Chapter 1593
Sam was devastated. He felt Aurous Hill was beneath him. The idea of being his cousin's driver, under Charlie Wade's constant watch, was unbearable. He considered his current lifestyle superior.
But faced with the alternative of swallowing the jade, he reluctantly agreed. He questioned the travel time to Aurous Hill, believing a flight would be quicker.
Charlie Wade scoffed, ordering him to bicycle, camping en route; any other mode of transport would result in broken legs.
Chapter 1594
The prospect of a 1200km bike ride in December filled Sam with despair. He pleaded that arriving in Aurous Hill would be after the New Year, missing his family celebrations.
Charlie Wade coldly countered, demanding 80km daily, ensuring his arrival before New Year's.
Sam cried, highlighting his recent surgery and the pain of excessive exertion. Trevor threatened him, further silencing Sam’s complaints. Sam agreed to the 15-day deadline.
He then begged to return to Eastcliff for the New Year. Charlie Wade mentioned a GPS tracker to monitor his movements, with any escape extending his Aurous Hill stay. Sam agreed to remain within Aurous Hill.
He then pleaded to avoid spending New Year’s alone. Trevor rebuked Sam for his constant bargaining. Sam finally surrendered, agreeing to leave immediately and stay within Aurous Hill for a year. Lydia, relieved her son avoided further surgery, promised him a good life in Aurous Hill.
Sam resigned himself to his fate. The bike ride was painful, but better than another surgery. However, Charlie Wade added that only a basic bicycle was allowed. Any other mode of transport would result in carrying bricks to Aurous Hill. In Aurous Hill, he could only rent a room in a village for no more than $1000 a month. Any excess spending would extend his stay.
Chapter 1595
Sam was aghast at the prospect of living so frugally in a village. He cried, claiming $1000 wasn't enough for rent.
Charlie Wade explained that Aurous Hill had a lower cost of living, with village rentals costing far less.
The low standard of living was a purposeful measure to break Sam’s arrogant habits.
Sam was utterly defeated. Lydia, distressed, pleaded with Loreen to intervene again. Loreen felt she'd already made her plea and didn't want to further compromise Charlie Wade. She felt her cousin deserved his punishment.
Charlie Wade threatened Sam with carrying cement at a construction site, referencing a former company boss who now performed that task as punishment.
Sam instantly agreed to the $1000 budget, fearing the construction work. Charlie Wade warned him to improve his behavior to avoid future calamities for his family. The Thomas brothers agreed, emphasizing Sam’s reckless nature. Franklin scolded Sam, stressing the importance of self-improvement. Lydia realized the consequences of not disciplining Sam, and she also sternly warned him. Sam finally understood and agreed to complete his punishment, ending the farce.
