Chapter 19
Facing the furious Cynthia, Charlie Wade smiled indifferently and asked, “Big New Year’s Day, and you don’t stay in Eastcliff to prepare for the New Year? Instead, you come to Aurouss Hill to cause trouble, trying to persuade my mother-in-law and make my wife divorce me? You can do all sorts of mischievous things, but I can’t defend myself?”
Cynthia’s expression faltered, then she gritted her teeth. “It’s all for your own good! Look at your wife. How is she worthy of you?”
Charlie Wade replied coldly, “Whether my wife is worthy of me is none of your concern. This is just a small lesson for you. If you know what’s good for you, go back to Eastcliff immediately. Otherwise, you’ll be spending the New Year in Aurouss Hill.”
Cynthia was furious! She struggled to get up, but a man in black restrained her. Gritting her teeth, she shouted, “Charlie Wade! Do you dare to threaten me?!”
Charlie Wade nodded calmly. “Right now, it’s just a threat. If you really annoy me, I might hit you.”
“Dare you!” Cynthia snarled. “If you dare to touch me, I’ll fight you!”
Charlie Wade snorted. “Even my subordinates could slap you. Why wouldn’t I dare? I don’t want to hit you because I don’t want to dirty my hands.”
Cynthia shrieked, “The man who touches me, I’ll kill him sooner or later! And your mother-in-law! That shrew dared to hit me too! I’ll get revenge!”
Charlie Wade frowned, raised an eyebrow, and said, “What? Still so arrogant? Fine, then don’t go back. Let’s celebrate the New Year in Aurouss Hill!”
“You intend to detain me?!” Cynthia asked.
“Yes,” Charlie Wade nodded. “You used the right word: detain.”
Cynthia raged, “I’ll make you regret this!”
Charlie Wade said calmly, “I don’t need you to make me regret it. I’ve already decided. Are you unconvinced? Fine, when will you be convinced, and when will you leave?”
Cynthia yelled hysterically, “Charlie Wade! I’m your elder! Your aunt! You can’t treat me this way!”
“Elder?” Charlie Wade asked coldly. “You keep saying you’re my elder, my aunt. Where were you when I was in the orphanage?”
Cynthia was speechless.
Charlie Wade continued, “Let me ask you again, where were you when I was working on a construction site as an adult?”
Cynthia remained speechless.
Charlie Wade asked again, “And where was my ‘aunt’ when I got married?”
Cynthia’s face darkened. She wanted to retort but couldn’t find the words.
Charlie Wade said, “You, ‘aunt,’ never cared for me or helped me. People have to rely on themselves. You not only didn’t help me, but you also came to interfere in my marriage. What was your intention?!”
Cynthia stammered, “I… I… I asked Claire Wilson to divorce you for your own good! That woman doesn’t deserve you!”
Charlie Wade nodded. “Then I’ll leave you in Aurouss Hill to improve your temperament—for your own good. If your personality isn’t corrected, you’ll cause a catastrophe, maybe even ruin your own life!”
Cynthia gritted her teeth. “Dare you! Give me a phone. I want to call your grandfather!”
Charlie Wade indifferently handed her his phone. “Go ahead, use my phone. Call him now!” He then told the man in black, “Unlock her handcuffs.”
The man in black obeyed.
Once free, Cynthia immediately grabbed the phone, dialed a number, and pressed send. After a few rings, an old, deep voice answered, “Hello, who is this?”
Hearing the old man’s voice, Cynthia cried, “Dad, it’s me, Dad!”
