Thinking of this, he subconsciously said to Charlie Wade, "Mr. Wade, I'm so sorry. I was delayed on the road for a few days and am late."

Claire, Jacob, and Elaine were even more surprised. How could Sam be apologizing to Charlie? Did they know each other?

Charlie, noticing his family's amazement, smiled subtly. "Young Master Kilgore, please don't worry. Since I offered to treat you to dinner, I'll honor my promise, regardless of your arrival time."

Sam was stunned, initially unsure why Charlie was suddenly so polite. He then realized he might have misspoken; Charlie likely didn't want his family to know about their conflict.

He quickly followed Charlie's lead. "In that case, thank you, Mr. Wade. Let's set a date after the New Year."

Charlie nodded, smiling at Claire, his father-in-law, and mother-in-law. "While in Eastcliff doing some feng shui work for a client, I attended Grandma Thomas's birthday party on Claire's behalf and met Young Master Kilgore there."

A different voice politely asked, "Hello, is this Ms. Claire Wilson's home? I'm Doris Young from the Emgrand Group. I apologize for this unannounced visit."
