Charlie Wade's family enjoyed a happy New Year's Eve dinner, watching the Spring Festival Gala in the living room. Unusually, Jacob and Elaine Wilson, usually at odds, got along without bickering.

Jacob Wilson shared some white wine with Charlie, much to his enjoyment. Claire Wilson intended to have red wine with Elaine, but Elaine snatched the glass, pouring herself a drink and sternly saying, "Claire, women trying to conceive shouldn't drink alcohol; it's not good for the baby!"

She then smiled at Charlie and added, "Good son-in-law, you should also drink less. Too much alcohol affects the quality of a man's sperm, which in turn affects the baby's quality!"

Claire blushed, embarrassed and angry. "Mom Why are you so blunt?"

Elaine replied seriously, "I'm giving you health advice from childcare and genetics experts on TV!"

Claire sighed, "Then don't say it so crudely! Be tactful!"

Elaine retorted, slightly aggrieved, "I used 'tadpoles' instead of the actual term. Isn't that tactful enough? My daughter's genes are top-notch nationwide! She totally inherited my good genes!"

Charlie nodded, clinking glasses with Jacob. Just as he finished his drink, his phone received two WeChat messages. They were from Nanako Ito in Japan.

First, she sent a picture of her Kyoto home's snow-covered courtyard. Then, a message: "Charlie, Happy New Year! I also wanted to share some good news: it's snowing in Kyoto tonight"
