Chapter 2074

Nanako and the others couldn't keep up with Charlie Wade's pace, so they waited for his update. He chose not to take a helicopter to avoid alarming Jasmine's rescuers; he would rely on his own speed. He was only two or three kilometers from Jasmine's last known location.

After a half-hour run, he spotted Jasmine climbing out of a valley. She had put some distance between herself and her pursuers and was seeking cell service to contact him and her family. She worried about his reaction to her earlier distress call, fearing he'd be extremely concerned. She desperately needed to confirm her survival.

Seeing her, Charlie Wade felt a surge of relief. His biggest fear since leaving Aurous Hill was for Jasmine's safety. Seeing her alive dispelled his anxieties.

Jasmine reached a relatively flat boulder, pulled out her phone, but found no signal. After pacing, she finally connected. She immediately opened her messaging app, but her WeChat connection was poor. After several minutes, the app went from "connecting" to "receiving," but no messages arrived. She gave up on WeChat and called Charlie Wade instead. Despite weak signal strength, the call connected.

After two rings, she heard Charlie Wade's voice. "Jasmine, how are you?"

His voice, so close and comforting, overwhelmed Jasmine. Sobbing, she exclaimed, "Charlie Wade I I'm I'm still alive!"

He replied softly, "I know."

Weeping, she confessed, "Charlie Wade thank you If it weren't for you, I'd be dead."

Distressed, Charlie Wade watched her from behind. "Jasmine," he said gently, "I have something to tell you. Don't be nervous or afraid."

"Tell me, Charlie Wade!" she urged.

"Knowing what happened, I came to Japan," he revealed.

"What?!" she gasped. "Charlie Wade, you you came to Japan?!"

"That's right," he confirmed. "I'm in Tokyo."

Overwhelmed with happiness and relief, she cried, "Charlie Wade, you you really came to Tokyo to find me?"

He sighed. "Jasmine, I was in West Domo County, where you had your accident."

Stunned, she exclaimed, "Charlie Wade, how did you know I was in West Domo County? Where are you now?"

He said calmly, "Jasmine, I'm right behind you!"
