Chapter 2076

A thought bloomed in Jasmine's mind: "From today on, I, Jasmine, will do anything for Charlie Wade. Even if he asked me to die, I would willingly die for him without complaint!"

Charlie Wade was unaware of Jasmine's internal turmoil. He gently comforted her: "Jasmine, between us, there's no need for thanks, let alone talk of great kindness. You're my friend; saving you is only right. Even if you were in the middle of a fiery mountain, I, Charlie Wade, would never hesitate."

Charlie Wade's words, intended as a simple expression of friendship, deeply moved Jasmine. She felt an overwhelming love for him, a desire to hold him close and cling to him.

Her heart overflowing with emotion, she stood on tiptoe and kissed him. This was her second kiss, and his. Her lips, cold and salty from tears, made his heart ache. She held him tighter. She longed for time to stand still, for this moment to last forever. Even if it meant the end of her life, she would be content.

Unfortunately, reality wasn't a fairy tale. As they kissed, the whirring of a helicopter echoed from the nearby valley. Three helicopters approached, their searchlights sweeping the area.

Charlie Wade said urgently, "We can't stay here. The Tokyo police are looking for you."

Jasmine replied, "Charlie Wade, the police finding me is perfect! I'll call them!"

Charlie Wade frowned. "You'll call the police?"

"Yes!" Jasmine declared. "The truck that hit me was deliberate, an attempt to kill me!" Her eyes reddened with anger and grief. "Those bastards! They could have just killed me, but they implicated innocent people—my two assistants and my driver…"

Overcome with emotion, Jasmine sobbed, "Clarice and Dee… they'd been with me for so long. They came to Japan with me for New Year's, and I was planning a nice trip for them in Tokyo. I never expected…" She couldn't continue.

Charlie Wade comforted her, "Jasmine, don't worry. They won't have died in vain."

Jasmine nodded, wiped her tears, and said resolutely, "I'll call the police. We'll catch those responsible, bring them to justice, and avenge Clarice and the others!"

Charlie Wade shook his head. "You're unfamiliar with Tokyo. Calling the police won't help; you might alert them."

Jasmine asked, "So you mean we shouldn't call the police?"

"Right," Charlie Wade confirmed. "We don't know if this was someone in Japan or someone back home. Calling the Japanese police won't solve anything. Trust me. Let me handle this. I'll find out what happened and get you, and the three who died, justice."
