Chapter 117
Night, so various checks could be done normally. Leon and Sienna went to a private hospital. There were doctors on duty even at night. Leon kept complaining about pain in his chest and abdomen. When the doctor lifted his shirt, no bruises or injuries were visible. The doctor pressed on the areas where he said it hurt but still found nothing. With every press, Leon winced and cried out in pain. The doctor finally handed him a form for further tests.
As for Sienna, the doctor examined her face. The doctor said, โThere are no signs of being hit. You wouldnโt even qualify for a light injury.โ Sienna felt like crying; her eyes were wet. โBut it hurts so much right now!โ The doctor could only issue a form for her to get checked as well. When the results came back, the doctor was baffled. He said, โNeither of you shows any signs of injury, so thereโs no need for treatment.โ
They had no injuries but kept insisting they were in pain. The doctor thought these siblings had a case of psychosomatic illness. Leon couldnโt believe it. โThis is impossible! I was kicked hard, and now every time I breathe, it hurts.โ He was going insane from the pain. The doctor patiently explained, โYou arenโt sick. I canโt treat you.โ Leon and Sienna insisted they were hurt and wanted pain relief.
With no other options, the doctor prescribed some anti-inflammatory and pain-relief ointment for them to try. He added gently, โIf you still feel pain, you might want to visit a psychiatrist tomorrow. You might be imagining the pain.โ
Leon and Sienna were taken aback that they were being accused of having mental issues. They werenโt imagining anything. But after seeing the test results, which showed everything was normal, they had to give up and were sent home.
Siennaโs face ached severely. In the hospital, she applied the anti-inflammatory ointment. At first, it felt cool, but soon the pain returned, even worse than before. She had never endured such humiliation and pain in her life. Unable to hold back, Sienna turned and hugged Leon tightly, sobbing, โLeon, I feel so miserable.โ
Leon was taken aback by her sudden embrace, which made his chest pain intensify. โOuch!โ For a moment, he wanted to curse. With a hint of impatience, he said, โI feel bad too. Can you let go of me?โ It was more of a disaster. In the past, being sought for comfort by his sister had given him a sense of achievement as an older brother. Now, he felt it was moreโฆ
Sienna, however, refused to let go, tightly clutching his waist. โI wonโt! Donโt you care about me anymore?โ She needed his reassurance right now. Being held like this only aggravated Leonโs injuries. Losing all patience, he snapped, โCanโt you understand what Iโm saying! Iโm in pain too. Can you behave a little?โ He had no idea why Sienna had become so willful.
Sienna couldnโt believe Leon would speak to her like that. With a look of grievance, she glared at him. โYouโre scolding me!โ She released Leon and turned away, muttering, โI wonโt talk to you again.โ Then she curled up by the window, quietly sobbing, looking pitiful and helpless.
Under normal circumstances, Leon would have comforted her. But now, he only felt annoyed, and her crying made him want to cover her mouth. He couldnโt understand why Sienna loved crying so much. He wished she could be a little stronger like Phoebe. After a while, Sienna cried even louder because Leon did not come to comfort her.
Unable to hold back, Leon snapped in irritation, โStop crying. Why are you so annoying? Can you just be quiet?โ People might think he was torturing her. He would have kicked her out of the car if she werenโt his sister.
Feeling miserable from both the pain and Leonโs harsh words, Sienna turned to express her displeasure. But upon meeting Leonโs red, brooding eyes, she suddenly felt intimidated. Instead, she bit her lip and shrank back, silently crying by the window. The driver and the passenger in the front seat internally cursed their luck. Not only was Leon annoyed, but they were too. Compared to a crybaby like Sienna, they preferred Lenda and Phoebe, who were more fierce.
When they returned to the Jenkins family home, everyone was there except Elliot. With her face aching and her heart hurt by Leonโs words, Sienna immediately sought comfort from her brothers as soon as she saw them. She threw herself into Joshuaโs arms and cried. Joshua quickly wrapped his arms around her. โWhat happened, Sienna?โ
She cried, โJoshua, I got hit by Phoebe. We just got back from the hospital. She slapped me several times, and my face hurts so much. Leon got kicked hard and is in pain too.โ She started her complaint right away. This revelation stunned Lydia and the brothers. They were clearly surprised and somewhat skeptical. Phoebe didnโt seem like the type who would hit her brother.
As Leon walked in, holding his chest and abdomen, he overheard Siennaโs complaint. Instead of feeling pleased, he felt embarrassed. Being beaten by his sister like this wasnโt something to be proud of. Lydia stood up and pulled Sienna from Joshuaโs embrace. With a serious expression, she said, โIf you have grievances, sit down and talk about it properly. No hugging.โ Seeing them hugging like that was quite unpleasant for her.
Once pulled away, Sienna remembered Lydiaโs previous warning about not hugging. She silently cursed Lydia for being meddlesome. However, she said, โMom, Iโm just feeling really bad. Iโll be careful next time.โ Lydiaโs face was expressionless. โI hope you remember that next time.โ She turned to Leon and asked, โWhat happened?โ
Leon didnโt hide anything and explained the bar incident. After hearing him out, Lydia didnโt know what to say. But seeing Siennaโs unmarked face and hearing that nothing had shown up in the hospital made her dismissive of the issue. โJust donโt provoke her again,โ Lydia said to them. Then she told Leon, โSheโs your sister. Letโs put this behind us.โ
Leon sneered. โWell, what else can I do?โ They had no evidence to take action against Phoebe, let alone threaten her with exposure. In too much pain to talk, Leon went straight to his room. Lydia, equally disinterested, returned to her room as well. The remaining brothers comforted Sienna but didnโt dare hug her again.
Sienna received their sympathy, but she noticed that no one suggested helping her retaliate. They all acted like she was just throwing a tantrum, and they were only indulging her. This left Sienna feeling extremely frustrated. She was clearly in pain, yet they didnโt believe her.
Once back in her room, Sienna cried from the pain, but when she looked in the mirror, her eyes were the only things swollen. The more she thought about it, the more she felt something was off. Phoebe must have used some unnatural means to hurt them, which was why the tests showed nothing, but she was still in pain. Sienna wouldnโt let Phoebe get away with it.
Determined, Sienna opened her messaging app, typed out a message, and manually entered a string of numbers to send it. Before long, she received a reply that read: Okay.
