Chapter 135
Frank let out a bitter laugh when Leon brandished his question. โYou think I want to keep her around? Sheโs the spy my dad and Patricia planted by my side. The only way to stay prepared for fighting back is to keep her where I can see her.โ His eyes darkened. โBesides, I donโt dislike her. Keeping her close is the only way I feel a little more at ease.โ
Iron asked, โWhatโs up?โ
Frank didnโt answer directly. Instead, he asked, โDid you notice anything off about Sienna and those two horoscope readers today?โ
Leon thought for a moment. โThey kept asking for my blood, pushing me to choose dissolution. It did feel a little strange.โ
Then, something clicked. โWait. Youโre saying Sienna and those horoscope readers are connected?โ
Frank nodded. โThey definitely are. From what I saw today, they were working together, targeting you and Phoebe. I was just caught in the crossfire.โ
His voice grew heavier. โLeon, remember this. Never give your blood to a horoscope reader. Once they have it, they can use it to cast curses, raise venomous parasites, and all sorts of things.โ
โThey were after your blood today, probably to get to Phoebe. Of course, sooner or later, youโll be in trouble too.โ
Leon looked stunned. โHow do you know all this?โ
Frank thought for a moment before saying, โI almost fell for it once. I learned my lesson. Iโm only telling you this for your own good, so donโt go running to Sienna with it. You should be more on guard around her.โ
โOtherwise, one day, she might betray you, and you wonโt even see it coming. If I hadnโt signaled you earlier, you would have handed over your blood without a second thought.โ
Frank only warned Leon because they were friends. Otherwise, he wouldnโt have bothered saying so much.
Leon rolled his eyes. โIโm not that stupid.โ
Frank let out a mocking laugh. โYouโve done plenty of stupid things. I used to think Sienna was just some plaything you guys kept around. But after seeing how your two brothers act around herโฆ I realized youโre the ones wrapped around her little finger.โ
Leonโs face darkened. โShut up. Youโre not any better. We all know you like Brenda. If youโre really so concerned about keeping an eye on your little spy, you shouldnโt have kept stringing Brenda along. You deserved to get hit.โ
Frank sighed. โIf I got into a real relationship with Brenda, Iโd be worried about putting her in danger.โ
Leon smirked. โYouโre heading straight down Reeceโs path.โ
Frank raised an eyebrow. โWhatโs that supposed to mean?โ
Leon was blunt. โItโs simple. Youโre going to get dumped. Have you ever considered whether she even wants your so-called noble sacrifices?โ
He scoffed. โYou and Reece are the same. Now, all of a sudden, youโre acting like youโre madly in love. Where was all this devotion before? Honestly, you both seem like jerks to me. Mark my words. Phoebe and Brenda will never forgive either of youโjust wait and see.โ
Frankโs expression darkened. โEnough. Shut up and drive.โ
Leon pulled onto the road. โYou and Reece think way too highly of yourselves. Of course, so did I. Thatโs why Sienna played me, and Phoebe completely wrecked me. You two wonโt be any different.โ
Leon sighed. โMan, we really are friends. What a miserable bunch. Send Reece a message and tell him to meet us for a drink. No need to act all heartbroken and brooding.โ
Frank shook his head. โIf you say that to his face, he must punch you.โ
That reminded Leon of the time Reece had hit him before. โDamn, some friendship this is. Forget it. Iโm not calling him.โ
With that, the two headed straight to a bar for drinks.
At a cafe, Reece was on the phone with Brenda. Brenda picked up, clearly annoyed. โWhat do you want?โ
Reece wanted. โOphelia is after that antique you have. Keep it somewhere safe.โ
Brenda was surprised. โHey, so youโre not playing her lapdog today? I figured youโd be calling to demand I hand it over.โ
Reece frowned. โDo you have to put it like that?โ Then, with a sigh, he added, โIโve thought things through. Let Soren have whatever scraps of motherly love sheโs willing to give.โ
Looking back, I was such an idiot. And honestly? It wasnโt even worth it, he wondered.
Brenda clicked her tongue twice. โSo, you finally come to your senses. Just donโt go running back to Ophelia the second she sweet-talks you.โ
Reece rubbed his temples. โCan you talk properly for once?โ
Brenda replied. โNope. You and I ran out of things to say to each other a long time ago.โ
She was about to hang up. โAlright, got it. Thanks for the heads-up.โ
But Reece called out, โWait. Is Thechs with you? Can you let her take the call?โ
As he spoke, he scrolled through old photos of Lum and Phoebe, feeling nostalgic, missing her. Right now, even just hearing her voice would be enough.
Brenda was speechless. โHave you lost your mind! Pheebs is right here, but Iโm not helping you. She doesnโt want to hear your voice, so do her a favor and stop bothering her. Go and see Frank and Leon. You three can be lonely together.โ
Before Reece could say another word, Brenda hung up, leaving him fuming. His face darkened as he wondered, Brendaโs getting more and more infuriating.
On the other side, Sienna, not receiving Opheliaโs horoscope artifact, called again, subtly urging her. However, Ophelia still didnโt pick up the phone.
In the end, Sienna sent Ophelia a message and learned that Ophelia had been called back to the Hill mansion for something. Ophelia told Sienna to check with someone else.
Sienna was already in such pain she felt like she was about to break down. Seeing that message only made her even more frustrated with Ophelia this time.
Sienna then reached out to Lydia for help, but it took a long time before Lydia finally responded.
It turned out that there was a horoscope artifact at the Jenkins mansion that could enhance auspicious energy. However, Elliot had already warned Lydia in advance. If Sienna came asking to borrow it, Lydia should reject her.
Lydia had always followed Elliotโs instructions. Besides, lately, she had grown resentful of Sienna. Because of Sienna, Phoebe had broken up with her boyfriend, and on top of that, Sienna was way too close to her sons, which made Lydia uncomfortable.
Lydia pretended to help and told Sienna she had already asked Elliotโs parents, but they refused to lend it out, so there was nothing she could do.
Sienna did not suspect anything. She knew Elliotโs parents had never liked her. It was normal for them to refuse. She thought again about who else might have what she needed.
Then, it hit her. Brenda had plenty of antiques, and she must have something that could be used as a horoscope artifact.
Even the people pulling the strings behind the scenes wanted Ophelia to get that bead bracelet Brenda wore, which meant it was probably even better than the one Damon had.
With that in mind, Sienna called Reece, hoping he would help her. But all she got was a busy signal. When Sienna sent him a message, she realized Reece had blocked her.
This hit Sienna hard. She had never imagined Reece would actually be so rude to her. Even though she was trying to climb up to Maddox, she still liked Reece.
Reece dared to block me? Just wait, I will go complain to Mrs. Hill and make sure he pays for this. Hmph, she wondered.
In the end, unable to take it anymore, Sienna sent a message to an unknown number. She had no idea that Phoebe had already hacked her phone. Every time Sienna made a call or sent a message, Phoebe would get an alert.
