After they left the club, Maddox’s eyes sparkled as he looked at Phoebe. “So, what are we going to do with the thirty thousand dollars?”

He believed in living in the moment; spending money was the best way to stay motivated to earn more. This would also highlight Phoebe’s capabilities, letting more people see how great she was and like her more.

Phoebe checked the time and suggested, “Let’s book a hotel first. We can check in now. We’ll rest for an hour to recharge, then go have a nice meal.”

She took a card from her bag and checked it. “Today, there’s a famous influencer’s five-star hotel. They’re having a fireworks show to celebrate the store’s anniversary tonight. The production team wants us to check in here for the fireworks.”

“Let’s book three of the best rooms for the fireworks view. That way, we’ll get our check-in and solve the accommodation issue at the same time, two birds with one stone.”

Maddox agreed. “That’s a perfect idea.” He grinned and added, “Just following Pheebs and getting to enjoy the ride; this is awesome.”

Maddie, you’re so lucky!

The comments on the screen were full of playful remarks about wanting to live off someone else, cheerful and lighthearted. Quintus chuckled. “I’ve never stayed in a five-star hotel before. Thanks, Phoebe.”

When he first started his career, he made some money, but he quickly offended Joshua and was pushed aside. Not long after, he became broke, and he’d never had the chance to stay in a five-star hotel.

Phoebe smiled and said, “No problem, I’ll take you to stay somewhere nice.”

She pulled out her phone and opened the hotel’s page. “They’re having an event for their anniversary today. The fireworks view rooms, originally priced at 9,998, are now 6,698.”

Since it was the off-season for tourism, there were still rooms available.

“I’ll book three rooms then,” she said.

Maddox and Quintus nodded. “Sounds good.”

Although Quintus thought it was a bit expensive, he could tell that Phoebe and Maddox didn’t care, so he didn’t mention saving money to avoid ruining their mood.

Phoebe booked the three rooms for 20,094, then the three of them took a taxi to the hotel.

A group of people were shouting loudly, urging Maddox to step in. On the other side, Maddox didn’t disappoint.

Singing in the car, Maddox said to Phoebe, “Pheebs, send me a screenshot of your hotel booking.”

Phoebe immediately knew what he was up to. She didn’t object at all; in fact, she indulged him. “Sure.”

She sent him a screenshot of the booking details. Maddox instantly posted the photo in the group chat.

First, it was a photo of their lunch and the bill. Then, he posted the one of Phoebe with her fencing trophy, holding the first-place award along with the thirty-thousand-dollar prize. Finally, he shared the screenshot of the hotel booking.

Maddox: [So far, we’ve only spent a little over twenty thousand dollars. Looks like spending money is an art, and we’re going to do our best to help Pheebs spend that entire thirty thousand today.]

Quintus, seeing the messages and photos in the group, opened it up and stared, stunned.

“Maddox is really over the top. This kind of showing off is obviously meant to hit the other two teams hard. But I like it,” he wondered.

Quintus: [I’ll try to keep up with you guys.]

Meanwhile, the other two teams were performing, but the results were not great.

Sienna and her group of four took turns singing, dancing, and playing instruments. Sienna even wore the traditional clothes prepared by the production team, played the cello, and danced. They played the guitar, pulled out the violin, and even blew the saxophone.

But because it wasn’t particularly innovative, the locals who gave tips were few and far between. After all, these were things that street performers already did. Some of them even played instruments better or danced more passionately and gracefully than they did. There were plenty of fans for the four of them, but their tips didn’t add up.

As a result, after over two hours of singing and dancing, they barely earned six hundred dollars.

James and his group made even less, less than three hundred dollars.

Lexie picked up her phone, hadn’t opened it yet, and said to James, “I suddenly have a bad feeling about this.”

James was stunned for a moment, then realized. “I think it’s exactly what we’re thinking.”

Jimmy, hearing their conversation, was confused. “What bad feeling?”

Lexie said, “Open the chat and you’ll see.”

Jimmy, even more curious, opened the group and looked at it. After reading, he was speechless, “Can it really be like this? Is this even possible!” He was stunned by how much they were showing off.

Lexie and James couldn’t help but peek at the group, both nodding. “There’s nothing he won’t show off, as long as he can think of it.”

Jimmy really wanted to say, “This is just too much,” but since he was new and a guest, he didn’t dare to speak out.

At this moment, Lexie and James really wanted to kick this smug Maddox out and beat him up.

On the other side, the three of them, besides Joshua, heard the sound of multiple message notifications and also had a bad feeling. But they couldn’t resist their curiosity and clicked to open it.

After reading, one of them muttered a curse under their breath.
