Chapter 210
Lydia swung a broom at Cain with no merry. Cain dodged frantically to avoid the blows. But when he saw the broom nearly hit Sienna, he immediately shielded her with his body, standing protectively in front of her.
โMom, donโt do this,โ Cain pleaded. โThe hospital chairs were too hard, so I just lay down with Sienna to sleep. Weโre fully clothed! Youโre misunderstanding the situation!โ
Sienna hid behind Cain, afraid that Lydia would turn her wrath on her. She hadnโt expected Lydia to storm into the hospital room in the middle of the night, dragging along the broom. If she had known, she never would have asked Cain to stay.
Joshua and Jamar observed her reaction, and their hearts grew even colder. Her two older brothers watched in stunned silence. Cain was being beaten so badly that the sharp end of the broom had left scratches on his face, drawing blood. And yet, Sienna hid behind him, not uttering a single word in his defense. She was afraid of being beaten too. Having spent so much time around Sienna, they were certainโCain wouldnโt have climbed into bed unless she had asked him to.
Still, the way they had been lying together just nowโฆ It was way too much. Lydia, still fuming, continued swinging the broom. โDo I look blind to you? Do you think I canโt see whatโs going on?โ
Cainโs face and body burned with pain. Not wanting the fury to turn on Sienna, he jumped off the bed and ran toward the door. โMom, calm down!โ He dodged as best he could, his voice full of grievance. โYouโre thinking about this all wrong! Thereโs nothing inappropriate between us!โ
What kind of ridiculous situation was this? His relationship with Sienna was completely normal, yet somehow, in his motherโs eyes, it had turned into something indecent.
โYou expect me to believe that!โ Lydia spat. โIf nothing was going on, would people see it that way? What kind of siblings hug like that and sleep in the same bed! You two are absolutely shameless!โ She was beyond furious.
There were already online posts circulating about Sienna being too close with Leon and Jaghua, filled with suggestive implications. At least this was happening abroad, in a private hospital room. If they were in their home country, with paparazzi lurking around, the Jenkins familyโs reputations would be in shambles.
Worn out from swinging the broom, Lydia finally threw it aside. Turning her sharp gaze on Sienna, she demanded, โSienna, donโt you have anything to say for yourself?โ
Sienna clutched the blanket to her chest, her eyes red-rimmed with tears. โMom, youโre really misunderstanding us. Cain was just keeping me company, and there was nowhere else for him to lie down. He only squeezed in beside me for the night. Thereโs nothing going on between usโweโre innocent!โ
Lydiaโs rage flared up the moment she heard the word โinnocent.โ โInnocent!โ she bellowed. โDo innocent people sleep like that? Hugging each other more intimately than a married couple!โ Even she and Elliot had never been that close.
Lydia couldnโt hold back anymore. She stepped forward and slapped Sienna twice across the face. โSarima, I raised you for over ten years, treating you as if you were my own daughter. And this is how you repay meโby seducing my sons, trying to turn your relationships with them into something twisted!โ
Chapter 210
โStirring up drama and driving Phoebe away, cutting ties with the family? Are you my enemy? I devoted years of my life to raising you, and this is what I get in return?โ
Sienna, shocked and in pain, whispered, โMom, we didnโt do anything! Youโre misunderstanding me!โ Hate slashed through her heart, but on the surface, she sobbed pitifully.
Lydia refused to listen. She wasnโt done. Grabbing Sienna by the hair, she yanked her head and slapped her twice more.
โShameless girl? What kind of sister deliberately seduces her brothers? Just seeing the way you were lying together made me sick! I must have been blind all these years to think you were a pure and kind-hearted girl. A good girl would never behave like that!โ
Seeing his mother lashing out at Sienna, Cain immediately rushed over and grabbed her hand. โMom, please calm down! This isnโt Siennaโs fault. I was the one who insisted on squeezing in beside her. I was the one who held her in my sleep. Please, just calm down. We really arenโt what you think!โ He was the one who put his arm around her when she was asleep.
Lydia was so enraged she nearly lost her balance. Even now, Cain was blatantly lying to her face just to protect Sienna. As Cam pulled her away, forcing her to let go of Sienna, Lydia turned and slapped him across the face multiple times.
โYou disgraceful fool! So what youโre saying is, youโre the one with improper thoughts about Sienna? How did the Jenkins family end up with a son like you?โ
Joshua and Jamar had never seen their mother this furious before. For the first time, they felt a chill of fear. Looking at Cain, they could almost feel the pain of those slaps on their own faces.
Cainโs face stung as he snapped, โMom, can you stop already?!โ His patience had run out. โIโve told you so many times, and you still refuse to believe me! Iโll say it againโSienna and I have a pure sibling relationship. If you refuse to believe it, then thatโs on you!โ He had never been beaten like this before in his life. If it had been anyone else, he would have fought back by now. But this was his mother. What could he do?
Still, he felt wrongedโunduly frustrated and helpless. Because he really was innocent.
Lydia was so enraged that she could barely speak. โYou two disgusting, shameless creatures! Iโm telling your father about this, Iโve had enough. He can deal with you!โ
With dual shouts, they stormed out of the hospital room. Joshua and Jamar exchanged awkward glances before saying, โCain, what you did today was really out of line. Just look at how furious you made Mom!โ Then, without another word, they hurried after Lydia.
But it left Cain and Sienna alone, unsure of what to do next. Semnatairs, Lydia stormed out of the hospital, a gust of cold wind hitting her as she stepped outside. The chill helped her calm down slightly. Ignoring the late hour, she recorded a video of the incident to send to her husband. โI genuinely disdain and can no longer handle Cam and Sienna anymore.โ She had seen it with her own eyesโSienna shamelessly enticing Cain. Her compassion for the girl was gone.
Chapter 210
She wanted Sienna gone immediately. Who knew how much more damage she would cause to her sons if she stayed? People had been whispering for years that Sienna was raised as a child bride for her sons. Lydia had dismissed it before, but now, she wasnโt so sure. But Elliot insisted on investigating something first and wouldnโt allow Sienna to be sent away just yet.
So she was stuck. Beyond just being furious, Lydia felt deeply hurt. She had raised Sienna with genuine love and care. And this was the outcome! If Sienna had been mistreated in their home, if they had neglected her, then she might have understood why she acted out. But that wasnโt the case. Lydia had loved her for a decade, even at the cost of her relationship with Phoebe. And now, this was how Sienna repaid her? Had she raised a daughterโor an enemy?
And Cainโhe was no better. He had no sense of propriety, no shame. At this point, how was he any different from a married man protecting his mistress? The more Lydia thought about it, the more suffocated she felt. Clutching her chest, she staggered against the wall, her face going pale. Moments later, she collapsed, unconscious.
