In Leon’s office, he frowned after hearing Agent Zick’s words. “Wasn’t Spencer’s show not going to be made?” he asked. Previously, Spencer had approached Jenkins Entertainment seeking investment but had been turned down.
Zick replied, “I heard someone funded it, doubling the previous investor’s amount. Once the funding is in today, Spencer will restart production.”
Leon expressed his surprise. “Who’s foolish enough to double their investment? Are they out of their minds?” He wasn’t particularly optimistic about the show, which was why he hadn’t considered casting his third-tier actress for the female lead. His only strong impression of the project came from Phoebe’s interest in the third female lead. Had it not been for the sudden funding disruption, he would have secured that role for Phoebe.
Zick had done some digging. “It seems to be a newly established studio,” he said, his face filled with anger. “Leon, that investor even made it clear that they don’t want any stars from Jenkins Entertainment.”
“Spencer ended up targeting two of my subordinates,” he added. “If it weren’t for giving them some exposure, I wouldn’t bother with this lousy production.” He then deliberately provoked further. “They dared to embarrass Jenkins Entertainment and talk about disrespecting Mr. Jenkins and you.”
Leon didn’t care about the two stars being returned. However, those last few remarks genuinely bothered him, even though he knew Zick was trying to provoke him.
With a cold smile, he asked, “Who’s so arrogant?”
Zick replied, “I haven’t found out who exactly it is yet.”
“Hmph! I can’t wait to see that fool lose money. We’ll laugh in their face later,” Leon said, narrowing his eyes. “I’ll make sure to inform everyone that Spencer’s productions won’t be able to hire any stars from our company anymore.”
“Investing in them will be impossible,” he added. As for directors like this one who lacked recognition and connections, Leon wouldn’t bother with them in the future.
Zick felt his anger begin to subside. “That’s how it should be.” Seeing that Leon was busy, he didn’t want to disturb him further. Leon quickly pushed the matter aside.
That afternoon, Phoebe met with Gwen, who delivered the computer and provided her with the email address and monitoring timestamps. Meanwhile, Brenda arrived with a lawyer to officially sign Gwen and her team onto the project.
After returning home, Phoebe restored the photos and videos that had been shattered and deleted from the computer. She then retrieved the information from her email and spent money to obtain backup data from the surveillance footage, successfully restoring the deleted video.
Finally, Phoebe used a new phone, inserting an anonymous SIM card that she specifically purchased. She downloaded a chat app, created a new account, and added that jerk as a friend, utilizing hacking techniques to bypass any restrictions. After sending an emoji to him, he inexplicably asked: [Who are you?]
With this response, Phoebe hacked into the jerk’s phone and all electronic devices connected to it. She found the chat history he had deleted with Gwen, along with the conversations he had with the actual mistress. After taking screenshots, she controlled the jerk’s phone and sent the emails to her new anonymous account. She then deleted all records and erased all traces.
Phoebe generally didn’t take the initiative to hack into others’ electronic devices, but she felt no need to be polite to such a scumbag. Her intention was to restore the truth and make them bear the consequences they deserved. It was an eye for an eye.
After saving the screenshots, Phoebe began researching variety shows. Ultimately, she chose a highly popular, established outdoor live reality show, planning to have Gwen appear as a guest star. The director of this show was a talented woman who happened to be a classmate of Sebastian from the other variety show. So, she called Sebastian for assistance.
Once the call connected, Phoebe got straight to the point, asking for his help. After a brief silence, Sebastian said, “I wouldn’t mind helping out. However, Gwen has a terrible reputation, and Adriana is very particular about the character of her stars. The last thing she wants is a mistress.”
Phoebe wasn’t surprised by Sebastian’s response. It was no secret in the industry that Adriana held high standards for her chosen stars, having suffered from infidelity that had led to her own marriage’s collapse.
Phoebe replied, “Gwen was falsely accused; the real interloper is that young actress. Adriana’s show has already aired several episodes, and its popularity isn’t what it used to be.” If she uses Gwen, she could gain significant attention,” she continued. “I’ll also release evidence of Gwen’s innocence, proving that those two are the real scum.”
She continued, “Not only will we turn things around and clear Gwen’s name, but it will also show that Adriana didn’t make the wrong choice, boosting the show’s popularity, topics, and interest.”
Hearing this, Sebastian’s worried expression transformed into a smile. “If that’s the case, I’m sure Adriana won’t refuse. I’ll call her and let you know shortly.”
“Thank you, Sebastian,” Phoebe replied.
A short while later, Sebastian returned the call. Adriana wanted to meet Phoebe to verify whether she truly had evidence and whether Gwen was indeed innocent. Naturally, Phoebe agreed and arranged to have dinner that evening, with Sebastian helping to introduce her to Adriana.
That evening, the three of them met. Phoebe pulled up several chat screenshots stored in her email, along with photos that clearly showed Gwen and the jerk as a couple. Adriana’s doubts vanished completely, replaced by anger and disgust at the two jerks’ actions.
Adriana’s sister, who was the vice president of another entertainment company besides Jenkins Group and Star Entertainment, was not afraid of offending either of them or Leon. Adriana also recognized that Phoebe was quite remarkable. Having just opened a star studio, Phoebe had the audacity to sign Gwen, a star with such a tarnished reputation. To avoid any unnecessary trouble, the two went to finalize the contract the next day. They also managed to intercept the guest spot that Jenkins Entertainment had originally intended for another flying guest star, which was a star brought in by Leon. Coincidentally, it was also the same young actress who had interjected herself into Gwen’s relationship.
When Leon heard that Adriana had rejected his choice and instead opted for Gwen as the flying guest, he was left stunned. He couldn’t help but wonder if Adriana had lost her mind.
