Chapter 550 No Deal

โ€œI donโ€™t have proof,โ€ Paul sneered, โ€œbut youโ€“after Iโ€™ve told you the truth, why donโ€™t you believe me? You scared thisโ€™ll mess things up between you and Wyatt?โ€

โ€œOn one side, youโ€™ve got your own brother. On the other, the man Wyattโ€™s protecting. Youโ€™re afraid that once you know the truth, youโ€™ll humiliate yourself, arenโ€™t you?โ€

He smirked, voice mocking. โ€œGuess you really are a coward. Elsie was killed by Morgan. Then he lured Oscar over to take the fall for him.โ€

โ€œBut if you used your brain for once, youโ€™d figure it outโ€“Morganโ€™s a psycho. You really think heโ€™s smart enough to clean up all the evidence by himself? The reason the police havenโ€™t found a second suspect is because someone powerful is pulling strings behind the scenes.โ€

Yunice gave a cold laugh. โ€œSo what youโ€™re trying to say is, Wyatt helped Morgan but not me?โ€

Paul replied smoothly. โ€œI get it. You want a good life with Wyatt. You rely on him, after all. And sure, maybe he helped Morgan walk free, but that doesnโ€™t mean he wonโ€™t help you. Maybe heโ€™ll even pull some strings and shave a few years off your brotherโ€™s sentence. You should be grateful.โ€

โ€œLetโ€™s just pretend tonight never happened. I never said Morgan was the one who did it, and you can keep pretending you donโ€™t know. Go home, play the perfect couple with Wyatt. Let your brother do a few years in prisonโ€“itโ€™s a small price to pay for a lifetime of security.โ€

Yunice didnโ€™t even flinch, calm and posed. She said, โ€œI get your desperate little game, trying to stir up dramaโ€“but you left out one key detail.โ€

โ€œElsie was pregnant. That means besides you and Morgan, there was another man in her life.โ€

Which meant Paulโ€™s slander didnโ€™t hold water.

He stiffened for a second, probably surprised to learn Elsie had ever been pregnant.

But then he laughedโ€“a foul, ugly sound.

โ€œThatโ€™s your reason for ruling Morgan out?โ€ Paul sneered. โ€œYou didnโ€™t see that one coming, huh? Elsieโ€™s pregnancy? That was my doing.โ€

โ€œShe was used up by Morganโ€“I wouldnโ€™t touch her after that. But I was still pissed. So I gave her some drugs, brought in seven or eight homeless guys, and let them take turns on her all night.โ€

โ€œHahaha! And when she woke up the next morning, she actually thought I was the one who slept with her. That filthy slut got pregnant with a beggarโ€™s kid. Shame she didnโ€™t get to have itโ€“man, I wouldโ€™ve loved to see her face when she found out the truth. Hahaha!โ€

Yuniceโ€™s face darkened. She hadnโ€™t imagined the reality would be this sickening.

But thinking it over, everything lined up. Everyoneโ€™s behavior made sense now.

She stood up. Sheโ€™d gotten the answers she needed. There was no point wasting another second with Paul. โ€œYunice,โ€ Paul called from where he sat, โ€œIโ€™ve still got solid proof. Proof that Morganโ€™s the one who killed Elsie.โ€

โ€œBut if you want it, thereโ€™s something I want in return.โ€

โ€œI want your scar cream. Once my scars are gone, Iโ€™ll give you the evidence. You can take it, blow it up online, stir the potโ€“then even Wyatt wonโ€™t be able to keep your brother locked up.โ€

He knew Yunice had scar medicine. Back when heโ€™d injured her, the wound on her face had been deep.

Everyone thought sheโ€™d be a laughingstock at her wedding with Wyatt.

But sheโ€™d healed her face in secretโ€“and stunned them all.

Paul had tried everything to fix his own face, but every method had its drawbacks. Yunice was his last hope.

She didnโ€™t stop walking. โ€œNo.โ€

She had zero intention of trading with himโ€“zero intention of giving him any hope.

โ€œ...!โ€ Rejected again, Paul snapped. Staring at her back, rage boiling over, he lunged and grabbed her ankle.

Yunice was walking up a slope. With one sharp tug, she lost her balance and fell back into the ditch. With a hiss of friction, she hit the dirtโ€“Paul pounced, hands flying to her throat!

Elianna screamed. She wanted to help but took two fearful steps back. She glanced around wildly, debating whether to go get help.

Just then, headlights approachedโ€“and a car pulled up nearby.

The door burst open, and two bulky men in black jumped out.

Elianna had no idea who they were. Terrified, she backed up and ducked into the car, locking the doors tight.

But the two men sprinted straight toward the roadside.

Before they even got there, a dull thud echoed from the ditch, followed by a pained cry.

By the time they reached it, Yunice had already climbed out.

Paul lay writhing in the pit, hands cupping his groinโ€“clearly kicked.

Yunice looked up at the two men. Her expression finally softened a little.

She asked coldly. โ€œYou two have been following me this whole time?โ€

The men immediately bowed. โ€œMaโ€™am, Mr. Wyatt assigned us. Weโ€™re here to protect you. Weโ€™ll report everything that happened tonight to Mr. Wyatt. You donโ€™t need to worry.โ€
