Chapter 555 Two Horns, One Heart

โ€œOpen it and have a look,โ€ Wyatt said, ignoring Victor.

Yaniceโ€™s expression shifted slightly. His confidence intrigued herโ€”what had he given her that made him so certain it would win her favor over Victor?

Her hand hovered over Wyattโ€™s box. A quiet weight settled in her chest.

This was a delicate moment. No matter what Wyatt had brought, she had to be diplomatic. Disappointing either man would cost her.

Victor had clearly gone to great lengths to procure the rhino horn. She couldnโ€™t afford to let his effort feel overlooked.

But Wyatt was making it a direct challengeโ€”he wouldnโ€™t let her brush it off.

So Yanice complied and opened the box.

Victor kept a neutral face, but his eyes flicked toward it. He was curious too, even if he believed nothing Wyatt could offer would beat what heโ€™d brought.

After all, Yunice needed rhino horn most right now.

โ€œRhino horn?โ€ Yuniceโ€™s voice held a flicker of genuine surprise.

Victorโ€™s brow furrowed. His gaze turned slightly strange as he looked down at the box in Wyattโ€™s hand. Inside was, unmistakably, a rhino horn.

Wyatt looked satisfied. โ€œHappy with it? Didnโ€™t you say just a few days ago that you needed rhino horn to help your friend?โ€

But the expression on both Yunice and Victorโ€™s faces wasnโ€™t quite what Wyatt had expected.

Sharp as ever, Wyatt immediately sensed something was off. His smile faded slightly. Then, without a word, he lifted the lid of Victorโ€™s box.

Inside was another rhino hornโ€”nearly identical.

His eyes widened for two seconds before his expression cooled, jaw tightening.

Yunice tensed.

Then Wyatt curled his lips. โ€œSo you asked Victor for one too. Guess mine was a bit redundant.โ€

Before Yunice could speak, Victor smoothly cut in. โ€œDonโ€™t sell yourself short, Mr. Wyatt. Since you knew she needed rhino horn, she mustโ€™ve told you about it personally. I only got here first.โ€

Wyatt glanced up and down Victor with a smirk. โ€œYou really know how to make an insult sound polite. So Iโ€™m late, and that means I donโ€™t care enough? Is that it?โ€

The air between them grew sharp.

Yunice quickly stepped in. โ€œEnough. Rhino horn isnโ€™t easy to come byโ€”I know that better than anyone. Thank you both for going through so much trouble for me.โ€

โ€œIf thereโ€™s ever anything you need from me, just ask.โ€

Wyatt scoffed. โ€œWhat are you talking about? Youโ€™re my wife. Helping you doesnโ€™t count as โ€˜troubleโ€™.โ€

Clearly directed at Victorโ€”a dig for trying to score points.

Victor didnโ€™t react, only smiled and said, โ€œThen Iโ€™ll remember that and ask you for help next time.โ€

Yunice nodded with a polite smile.

Victor added, โ€œNow that I have the rhino horn, keeping it does me no good. Iโ€™ll leave it with youโ€”for future needs.โ€

He looked at Wyatt calmly, then turned and walked away without a fuss.

Back in the car, Freya was sitting in the driverโ€™s seat playing a mobile game. She didnโ€™t even look at Victor as she asked, โ€œWhat took you so long? Werenโ€™t you afraid Wyatt would throw a jealous fit?โ€

Victor fastened his seatbelt. โ€œItโ€™s because I ran into Wyatt that it took so long.โ€

Freya looked over, interested. โ€œDonโ€™t tell me he brought Yunice a rhino horn too?โ€

โ€œHe did,โ€ Victor said evenly.

Freya didnโ€™t seem surprised. โ€œWell, thatโ€™s not shocking. Rhino horn isnโ€™t some cheap, common item. If Yunice needed it, of course she asked around. Wyatt getting one too makes sense.โ€

Victor nodded. โ€œWhen she first came to me for help, I thought Wyatt was indifferent to her. But now, it seems I misjudged him.โ€

Freya raised an eyebrow. โ€œThatโ€™s rich coming from you. Werenโ€™t you the one who canโ€™t stand his arrogant capitalist attitude?โ€

Victor let out a soft laugh. โ€œBecause I know exactly how hard it is to get rhino horn.โ€

โ€œYou forgot?โ€ he added, his voice thoughtful. โ€œThe one I found this time was originally part of a matched set, same root, same origin. I thought it would be more stable medicinally, so I tried to get both.โ€

Freyaโ€™s eyes lit up. โ€œOh right. But wasnโ€™t there another buyer who kept competing with us for the pair? Some mystery client. We almost lost both horns to them. We only got one in the end thanks to decades-old ties with the supplier.โ€

Victorโ€™s tone was cool. โ€œThat mystery clientโ€ฆ was Wyatt. His horn was the other from the same batch.โ€

Freya whistled. โ€œNo wonder it was so damn hard. We were butting heads with each other and didnโ€™t even know it.โ€

Both chasing the same goal for Yunice. And it cost them weeks of effortโ€”all because neither knew what the other was doing.

But in the end, it all worked out.

And for that, no one had anything left to say.
