Chapter 591 Let the Snakes Eat Each Other

Peggy couldnโ€™t stop ranting and muttered mysteriously, โ€œIโ€™m telling you, someone weird showed up at the house today. Do you know him?โ€

Yunice sighed. โ€œOf course I do. Thatโ€™s exactly what I called to complain aboutโ€ฆโ€

โ€œHuh?โ€ Peggy perked up. Someone like Yunice had complaints? That was rare.

Yunice spoke softly, โ€œYou came to our family late, so thereโ€™s a lot you donโ€™t know. Elsieโ€ฆ she was never really a Saunders.โ€

โ€œWhat?โ€ Peggy blinked.

Yunice asked, โ€œDidnโ€™t you ever wonder who I really am in the Saunders family?โ€

โ€œWellโ€ฆโ€ Peggy paused. Sheโ€™d always assumed Yunice was some kind of cousin. Some old-fashioned families gave similar names to kids of the same generation, and she figured that was the case here. Maybe โ€˜Yuniceโ€™ was a given name, and โ€˜Elsieโ€™ just a nickname.

Now Yunice had thrown her completely off.

If Elsie wasnโ€™t a real Saunders, then who was Yunice?

Yunice sighed. โ€œItโ€™s a family secret. But youโ€™re my sister-in-law nowโ€“not exactly an outsider. Iโ€™ll tell you the truth.โ€

โ€œIโ€™m the real daughter of the Saunders family. That weird man you mentionedโ€“Timothyโ€“is actually Elsieโ€™s biological father.โ€

โ€œHuh?โ€ Peggyโ€™s eyebrows shot up, her eyes lighting up with the thrill of fresh gossip. She didnโ€™t realize the gravity of what she was hearing. โ€œYou mean Mom had an affair and brought the bastard child home to raise?โ€

She cackled, โ€œDidnโ€™t think she had it in her. Still, what a disgusting tasteโ€ฆ picking a guy like thatโ€ฆโ€

Yuniceโ€™s tone dropped. โ€œShe didnโ€™t do it willingly.โ€

She had no sympathy for Lily, but as a woman herself, Yunice wasnโ€™t about to mock her over something like that.

Peggy caught the chill in her voice and backtracked quickly. โ€œOhโ€“right, sorry.โ€

Yunice continued, โ€œOwen gave Elsie a legitimate identity by letting her take my place. But the real issue is that identity came with 10% of Saunders Hospital. That so-called โ€˜weird manโ€™ is here to take a piece of the family fortune.โ€

โ€œWhat!โ€ Peggy shot up in alarm.

One dead Elsie trying to steal the inheritance was bad enoughโ€“now there was another?

She shrieked, โ€œYunice, this is your familyโ€™s fortune. You canโ€™t just let this go!โ€

Yunice sighed. โ€œIโ€™m not legally part of the Saunders family anymore. The shares arenโ€™t in my name. I donโ€™t have any say in what happens.โ€

โ€œIโ€™m only telling you this because I donโ€™t want to see you kept in the dark. If someoneโ€™s going to walk off with the Saunders fortune, Iโ€™d rather it be you than an outsider.โ€

Peggy growled, โ€œDamn right! Iโ€™m the real lady of the Saunders house. The whole fortune should be under my control! Why should some outsiderโ€“some rapistโ€“get a cut?!โ€

Then, brimming with self-righteousness, she said, โ€œYunice, thank you for warning me. Donโ€™t worry, Iโ€™ll protect the Saunders fortune.โ€

Yunice smiled. โ€œThen Iโ€™m relieved.โ€

Just as she was about to hang up, she added casually, โ€œOh, right. My fatherโ€™s will should be in my brotherโ€™s study, in the safe. If you can find it, youโ€™ll have the upper hand.โ€

Peggy nodded eagerly. โ€œGot it!โ€

Yunice hung up, fully satisfied.

Let them fight.

The more chaos, the better. Let the vermin rip each other apart over that 300 billion.

A servant knocked at her door. โ€œSomeoneโ€™s asking for you at the gate.โ€

Yunice looked toward the pool, where Wyatt was swimming. Seeing he wasnโ€™t paying attention, she lowered her voice. โ€œWho is it?โ€

โ€œShe said her name is Nora. Sheโ€™s in a wheelchair.โ€

Yunice didnโ€™t even blink. Coolly, she said, โ€œTell her to leave. Iโ€™m not letting her in.โ€

The servant hesitated. โ€œShe said she knew you wouldnโ€™t, so she asked me to pass along a message. She wants you to let her friend Maine go.โ€

โ€œโ€ฆShe actually said I wouldnโ€™t let her in?โ€ Yunice asked coldly.

โ€œYes.โ€

Yunice scoffed. โ€œThen go tell her something from me, too.โ€

The servant bowed and headed out to deliver the message.

It was winter. Snow was falling, blanketing the trees and rooftops with a thick, glistening white coat.

The servant stood before the grand, ornate doors of Pavilion Hall as they slowly slid open with a low hiss, triggered by the motion sensor.
