Chapter 710 A Letter Left Behind

โ€œThe original copy of the video is still with Paul?โ€ Wyattโ€™s expression darkened.

โ€œEven though the police have already confirmed with Nora that the woman in the video is her, if that video leaks, itโ€™ll still affect Mrs. Wyatt.โ€

Wyatt asked, โ€œWhen is Oscar getting out?โ€

โ€œIn the next few days.โ€

Wyatt crushed out his cigarette. โ€œMake sure that video never ends up in front of her. Itโ€™ll only dirty her eyes.โ€

He reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone, skimming through the notifications.

There were plenty of new messages, but none from Yunice.

He called Laurie, testing the waters.

Laurie was in the lab, hunched over with her phone wedged between her shoulder and ear. โ€œWhere else would she be? Obviously still at my place. Havenโ€™t your people been trailing her like shadows? Why ask me? Youโ€™d be better off focusing on tracking down Paul.โ€

After completing the last step in her experiment, Laurie stretched and called it a day.

Wyatt hesitated, then stayed quiet.

But Laurie knew what he wanted to say. โ€œYou tried to manipulate little Yunice. Is it really that unreasonable for her to be pissed off?โ€

โ€œWhy donโ€™t you just tie her up and drag her back? Then you two can go at it till one of you dies.โ€

Last time Yunice and Wyatt fought, sheโ€™d made a name for herself.

She lost in the end and got sent to the hospital, but since then, Wyatt hadnโ€™t dared lay a finger on herโ€“let alone use force.

In his entire life, Wyatt had never met someone so impossible to deal with.

โ€œThen help me outโ€“go back and take a picture of her.โ€

Laurie sighed. โ€œAlright, fine.โ€

When she got home, Betty was finally running an experiment based on the formula sheโ€™d cracked. It was all set up on her small, makeshift lab table.

Laurie walked over and kissed her on the cheek. โ€œSweetie, Yunice isnโ€™t still sleeping upstairs, is she?โ€

โ€œShe went out. Hasnโ€™t come back yet.โ€

โ€œShe went out?โ€ Laurie froze, but quickly rememberedโ€“Wyatt always had bodyguards on her. Even if she left, heโ€™d know where she was.

Besides, Yunice was an adult. No one had the right to restrict her freedom.

โ€œShe said she left something in her room for Mr. Wyatt,โ€ Betty added.

Laurie froze again. A warning bell suddenly rang in her head. Something felt off.

If Yunice had something to pass to Wyatt, she couldโ€™ve just called. And if she didnโ€™t want to, Laurie couldโ€™ve done it for her.

Why tell Betty instead?

Laurie stood up abruptly and walked quickly toward Yuniceโ€™s room.

Before she even stepped inside, she spotted Yuniceโ€™s phone on the deskโ€“and a letter beneath it.

Her heart jumped into her throat. She didnโ€™t even take her phone?

She rushed over and picked up the phone first. The SIM card was still in itโ€“she hadnโ€™t even removed it.

Then she grabbed the envelope. On it was written: To Wyatt.

A loud buzz filled Laurieโ€™s ears. She fumbled for her phone and called Wyatt.

โ€œWyattโ€ฆ something happenedโ€ฆ Yunice, sheโ€ฆโ€

Wyatt immediately picked up on the tone. His voice dropped cold. โ€œGet to the point.โ€

Laurie gave up pretending and just said it straight. โ€œYouโ€™d better come see for yourself.โ€

Twenty minutes later, Wyatt stood frozen, holding the letter Yunice had left behind.

Sheโ€™d left without a word.

After reading it, he stayed still for a long time. Then, slowly, his brows twisted in fury. He suddenly crumpled the letter into a ball.

Just as he was about to throw it, he froze again. His hand tightened instinctively, and he held onto the balled-up paper.

Laurie said, โ€œShe didnโ€™t take her phone. Changed her clothes and accessoriesโ€”clearly didnโ€™t want GPS tracking. Her counter-surveillance skills are top-notch. If this has been in the works for a whileโ€ฆ we might already be too late to catch her.

She wanted to say: accept it.

Yunice really meant to leave.

Maybe at first, the loss would hit hardโ€“feel hollow and painful. But that feeling wouldnโ€™t last forever.

Life was complicated. Eventually, something or someone would fill the space Yunice left behind.

Still, Laurie herself was having trouble accepting it. Biting her knuckle, she frowned. Part of her even resented Yunice.

That foolish girlโ€“why be so stubborn?

Sheโ€™d worked so hard to get into college. Made real friends. She had Laurie as her mentor. The future was bright. In a few years, sheโ€™d have had it allโ€“advanced degrees, solid footingโ€“and with Wyattโ€™s financial support, she couldโ€™ve built any life she wanted.

But right before reaching the peakโ€ฆ she chose to walk away.

Wyattโ€™s entire jaw was trembling, red veins crawling through his eyes. โ€œSheโ€™s really pushing me.โ€

Laurie held back her words.

If Wyatt couldnโ€™t find Yunice, so be it. But if he did corner her somewhereโ€ฆ something terrible might happen.

Wyatt stormed out, fury radiating off him like heat.

Worried things would spiral out of control, Laurie quickly called the Crawford family as a precaution.
