Listen to this chapter:

James stood; Celine sat. Logically, he should have held the upper hand. But Celine sat ramrod straight, her bright eyes calmly observing him, and her composure overshadowed him.

"Yes yes," James stammered, speechless. What was he even saying? Except for his highly respected Dr. C, no one dared address him by his first name. This substitute bride had no sense of propriety.

He wanted to criticize her. "You"

But Celine interrupted. Nodding, she said, "Alright, you go ahead and teach."

James froze. Who was the professor, and who was the student? She'd told him to teach? He felt strangely powerless. He walked to the podium and began lecturing. Why was he so obedient? He didn't want to.

He lectured. Celine, clearly sleep-deprived, slept at the table throughout the entire lecture.

As James prepared to leave, he glanced at the still-sleeping Celine. He wanted to wake her and reprimand her, but hesitated, almost afraid. He left.

Melody entered, accompanied by two friends. A dance student at Yorhine University, Melody dreamed of becoming a prima ballerina like her idol, Carly. Beautiful and possessing a fantastic figure, she was Yorhine University's queen bee, often called the "Goddess Among Men." Popular and socially successful, she was furious to learn that Celine was studying at Yorhine. What was Adam thinking? Why send this country bumpkin? Celine, in Melody's opinion, lowered Yorhine's standards.

Melody saw Celine, still asleep, through the window. Her two companions, giggling, remarked, "Melody, I heard Celine sleeps through class. Is she a pig or what?"

"Haha, she's a country bumpkin! A joke at Yorhine!"

Brightened, Melody took a photo of the sleeping Celine and posted it on the Yorhine University forum with the sarcastic caption, "Let's welcome the newly transferred Celine Tate."

Comments poured in:

Student A: "This new student fell asleep during James' class?"

Student B: "Is she the Goddess of Sleep?"

Students C and D agreed.

Amusement bubbled up as Melody saw Celine dubbed "Goddess of Sleep." Her phone rang—a melodious ringtone. It was Carly.
