Listen to this chapter:

When Adam, in a deep, hoarse voice, requested that Celine improve her behavior, her heart softened. She sensed his genuine plea for change. In their three years of marriage, she had cared for him during his vegetative state, while he provided generous financial support and enrolled her in Vorhine Universityโ€”a gesture intended, he'd implied, to end their relationship.

However, her behavior at Vorhine University was far from exemplary. He'd been distressed the previous night at a bar after hearing about her "Goddess of Sleep" incident. This morning, the university's contact regarding her "Goddess of War" antics further hampered his ability to concentrate at a meeting. He'd never encountered such a predicament.

Lying on top of him, she remarked, "You don't like women who are well-behaved."

Adam stared, disbelieving.

Celine, using him for support, placed her hands on his chest and stood. Her bright eyes focused on his face as she said, "I know you well, Adam. You have a thing forโ€ฆbitchy women."

Adam was taken aback. He hadn't expected such directness, especially from her innocent-looking face.

Celine gazed at him confidently, her eyes drifting to his lips. With an intense stare, she said, "I saw everything last night from outside the private room. Carly gave you wine, and you seemed to enjoy it."

Adam knew she'd been there. Though he hadn't seen her when he turned, she'd witnessed everything.

"You expect me to behave, yet you pursue other women," Celine declared, pushing herself off him. Her slippers, having slipped off earlier, were missing, leaving her seated on the bed.

Adam lay on her bed, his expensive black suit a stark contrast to the soft, peach-colored, heart-shaped sheets. The scene felt forbidden.

Celine kicked his thigh. "Get off my bed!"

He glared. "Celine, don't you dare!"

Provoked, she kicked him again. Her small feet connected with his trousers, igniting fury in Adam's eyes. He grabbed her foot. "Celine, Carly can't compete with you. You're the bitchiest one."

Carly had openly seduced him; Celine, secretly and more manipulatively. Carly had shared wine; Celine had kicked him out of bed. Carly was no match. Consequently, he felt compelled to end the relationship and resist her allure.

Adam glared at her. Celine, fresh from a shower, wore a sleeveless dress and a soft beige shawl. As she sat, the shawl slipped, revealing a thin strap. Her delicate face held a gentle freshness, her red lips enhancing her charm.

Carly was different. Her striking makeup and red lips were a hallmark of her style, but last night's smudged lipstick had diminished his attraction.

Celine was speechless.

He saw her intelligence, her quick learningโ€”including how to attract menโ€”but no matter her efforts, he only had eyes for Carly. He intended to end their relationship. He held her sensitive right foot. She struggled. "Let go!"
