Celine tapped her phone and saw a smiley face emoji from Adam. She gasped and screamed.

Back in Cro's office, Adam watched Celine's chat window flicker with "typing" repeatedly. This went on for several minutes before abruptly stopping. It seemed she had given up, leaving the conversation in silence.

The tension eased, and a smile slowly spread across Adam's face. He found it amusing; she was hard to tease.

His thoughts drifted to a screenshot of her wearing the red agate necklace. Its delicate beauty enhanced her grace and elegance.

Then, he remembered his best friend Robin's message: "Celine, you really have him wrapped around your finger, don't you? He just casually rewards you with a necklace like that?"

Adam's eyes darkened as the memory of that night in the car flashed in his mind. He winced slightly, realizing Celine was different. When he'd seen the necklace abroad, he'd immediately bought it for her.

Although they hadn't crossed any serious boundaries, Celine was the first woman to affect him this way. There was something different about his feelings for her.

Just then, the door to the CEO's office opened, and Carly entered.

"Adam, you're back?" she said, approaching him.

Adam replied curtly, "Mm."

Carly sat on his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Adam, where's my gift?"

Adam hesitated. He'd bought a gift for Celine but nothing for Carly; he hadn't even considered it. Noticing Carly's expectant gaze, he said, "I forgot. Just tell me what you like, and I'll have Leo get it for you."

Carly was surprised. "Didn't you order the Alber red agate necklace? Wasn't that for me?" She was certain it was.

Adam frowned. "I ordered it, but I didn't buy it for you."

Carly seemed disappointed but let it go, quickly changing the subject. "Adam, I've made plans with Celine. In two days, you, me, Celine, and Nathan will all go to the resort to relax in the hot springs."

Adam's expression remained neutral. "Did Celine agree?"

Carly nodded. "Yes. She's dating Nathan now, so it'll be the four of us."

Celine was now Nathan's girlfriend. That day in the car had been her way of repaying him, and she didn't want to owe him anything. She'd asked him not to contact her again.

He wondered if she was truly eager to be with Nathan. Any man was fine, apparently, but not him. They were good friends; they'd grown up together, and he couldn't accept the idea of her being with his friend. Adam nodded. "Alright."

Carly leaned up to touch his face, gazing at him with deep affection. "Adam, have you missed me these last few days?"

Adam gently removed her hand, signaling for her to get off his lap. "I just got back. I have work to do. You should go now."

All he cared about was work. Carly wondered if he had any normal desires like other men. This thought left her feeling resentful.

Two days later, Celine and Nathan arrived at the resort. Adam and Carly were already there. The four of them spent the day together.

The manager greeted them warmly. "Mr. Alvarez, Mr. Lynch, welcome. I've prepared the two best presidential suites with ocean views for you."

Carly looked around at Adam. "Adam, let's room together."
