Celine rushed to the hospital. Adam also headed there, going straight to the VIP suite to find Carly. She lay on the bed, dressed in an oversized hospital gown, her face as pale as a ghost, unconscious.
He approached the bed. "What happened to Carly?"
"Mr. Alvarez," a voice replied, "after you left Carly alone last night, she collapsed. We rushed her to the emergency ward. She's alive, but hasn't regained consciousness."
Hayden and Lucy, anxious and worried, couldn't believe he'd left Carly in such a vulnerable state. Guilt and regret weighed heavily on Adam. Last night, Carly had tried to kiss him, but all he could think about was Celine. He'd pushed Carly away, left Tate Manor, and gone to the hospital to find Celine. He hadn't known Carly would collapse so soon.
Suddenly, Carly slowly opened her eyes.
"Carly, you're awake!"
Hayden and Lucy rushed to help her sit up. Carly's gaze fell on Adam; her red-rimmed eyes filled with grievance. Her voice trembled. "Adam, where did you go last night? You left me alone. Did you go to see Celine?"
Lucy gasped. Like Carly, she couldn't believe Adam might be interested in Celine.
Adam's hands, hanging loosely at his sides, clenched into fists. He said nothing. His silence confirmed Carly's fears. Anger fueled her. Tears streamed down her cheeks. "Adam, you really like Celine, don't you?"
This wasn't a question. Adam did like Celine.
Lucy's expression darkened. "Mr. Alvarez, what—" She was incredulous. "Did Carly just say Adam likes Celine? How is that possible? She's not even worth—"
Carly, throwing off the blanket, tried to get out of bed. "If you don't want me anymore, I don't want to live!"
Adam pulled her into his arms. His voice was hoarse. "Nothing happened between Celine and me."
Carly slowly turned, her tear-filled eyes brimming with cautious hope. "Adam, is that true? Nothing happened between you two?"
Adam met her gaze. Carly had always been his girl. How could he abandon her? He couldn't deny that Celine had made his heart race; he might even have liked her. However, Celine no longer liked him, and he owed it to Carly to take responsibility. He gently wiped the tears from her face. "It's over between Celine and me."
