Chapter 224

โ€œIโ€™m not free,โ€ he coldly rejected. โ€œIf you need something, contact my secretary and schedule an appointment.โ€ He hung up.

The busy signal rang on the other end, and Celine sighed. For Robinโ€™s sake, she had no choice but to go to Adam. โ€œMr. Heron, Iโ€™ll keep you updated,โ€ she said softly.

When Celine arrived at Lux Garden, the maid opened the gate and greeted her politely: โ€œMrs. Alvarez.โ€

Celine asked, โ€œIs Adam here? Please let him know I need to see him.โ€

โ€œOf course, Mrs. Alvarez. Please wait a moment,โ€ the maid replied.

Celine waited outside as the maid disappeared into the house. After a short while, she returned and said, โ€œMrs. Alvarez, Mr. Alvarez is in the study, but he said he doesnโ€™t want to see you.โ€

It was no surprise to Celine that Adam didnโ€™t want to see her.

โ€œIโ€™ll wait here until he decides he wants to see me,โ€ she replied.

Just then, a luxury MPV pulled up, and Nikki stepped out in sparkling crystal high heels. Nikki smirked, sneering, โ€œCeline, did you come to see Mr. Alvarez? He wonโ€™t see you. He doesnโ€™t like you. Your persistence is pointless.โ€ With that, she strutted into the house.

Anger boiled inside Celine as she clenched her fists.

Inside the study, Adam sat at his desk, reading documents. His usually composed and handsome face was cold with frustration, all because of Celine. He had waited for her at the city hall, hoping to finalize the divorce, but she had stood him up. He couldnโ€™t help but wonder if she had been playing games with him. Adam didnโ€™t want to see her, no matter what she was here for.

At that moment, the study door opened, and Nikki walked in.

โ€œMr. Alvarez,โ€ she greeted him softly.

Adam glanced up at her briefly. โ€œWhat do you want? Leave.โ€

Nikki noticed his distant expression and gently said, โ€œMr. Alvarez, I just wanted to thank you for everything these past few days. I thought Iโ€™d invite you for a drink. If itโ€™s a bad time, Iโ€™ll leave. I did see Celine downstairs on my way upโ€ฆโ€

Adamโ€™s expression shifted. โ€œCome back.โ€

Nikki paused and turned.

โ€œWeโ€™ll go to the bar now,โ€ Adam said.

Nikki smiled, pleased with his change of heart.

Celine had been waiting outside all this time. Soon, the villa gates opened, and Adam walked out with Nikki by his side. Celine quickly stepped forward. โ€œAdam, please, just five minutes. I need to talk to you.โ€

Adamโ€™s cold gaze landed on her. โ€œI donโ€™t have time.โ€

Nikki smiled and said, โ€œSorry, Celine. Mr. Alvarez is taking me to the bar. Weโ€™ll be going now.โ€

With that, Nikki got into Adamโ€™s Rolls-Royce Phantom. He sped away, leaving Celine with the cold, fading silhouette of the car.

Benjamin was surprised when Adam walked in with Nikki at Club 1996.

โ€œIsnโ€™t this the famous Ms. Barnett? Adam, whatโ€™s she doing here with you?โ€

Benjamin was familiar with the entertainment industry. He had dated both rising stars and fresh-faced models.

Adam remained silent. He wore a black shirt with the top buttons undone, revealing his sharp collarbone, and black trousers. Leaning back in his chair, he opened a bottle of wine and drank straight from it.

Nikki stopped him as he reached for a second bottle, pressing her delicate hand on his. โ€œMr. Alvarez, donโ€™t drink anymore,โ€ she said softly.
