Celine paused briefly before saying, "Mr. Alvarez, we've met before!"

Adam was taken aback. He wondered why he had no memory of their meeting. Yet, she felt so familiar, always drawing him in.

"Mr. Alvarez, we" Celine reached for her neck, hoping to retrieve the emerald necklace he had given her. She couldn't find it; she remembered it was still in her hotel room.

"Wait here, I'll be right back," she said quickly, running off.

As Adam watched her leave, he wondered what she was going to get.

Celine returned to her hotel room and retrieved the emerald necklace. Holding it, she wondered if it would trigger any memories for Adam, if it would help him remember their past. She decided to find out.

She hurried back to the ski slope. From afar, she saw Adam still waiting. She started to run toward him, but froze when she saw Carly standing beside him. Carly had flown in from Mercity.

Celine stopped, feeling a sudden chill. The warmth inside her faded. She felt foolish. He had forgotten her. She had hoped the necklace would help; she wasn't important to him. If she were, he wouldn't have forgotten. The one he loved was Carly, and she was by his side.

Celine lowered her gaze, staring at the necklace. She forced a bitter smile.

Just as she decided to leave, she realized someone was standing behind her, making her jump. It was Benjamin.

At the Pinnacle Academic Symposium, Benjamin had learned that the woman he admired was Celine. The red roses he had been holding fell to the ground; he still couldn't accept it. The woman he had always despised—Celine—was Adam's brilliant junior, the one he had wanted to pursue.

Celine looked at Benjamin. "Mr. Benjamin, what are you doing here, standing silently behind me?"

Benjamin's eyes darkened. "Celine, are you really the genius girl?"

Celine raised an eyebrow, walking toward him with a smirk. "Mr. Benjamin, I told you already. Your goddess doesn't like red roses."

Her eyes sparkled with amusement. Benjamin's expression darkened.

"Mr. Benjamin, I'll be leaving now," she said, brushing past him.

She left before he could reply. Benjamin watched her go.

Up ahead, Adam hadn't expected Carly to appear. "Why are you here?"

"Why can't I be here, Adam? Why haven't you been answering my calls? You said you were on a business trip in Maryland, but I heard Celine came here with someone to see the snow. What a coincidence. Are you following her?" Carly confronted him.
