Listen to this chapter:

Celine packed up the medical kit and walked out. She had observed the terrain earlier and noticed medicinal herbs nearby. She could use them to create something that would make Wyatt lose his memory.

She knelt to pick the herbs. Suddenly, she heard footsteps behind her. Turning, she saw Benjamin. He had followed her. Celine was surprised. โ€œWhy did you follow me? Youโ€™ve lost so much blood. You should rest.โ€

Benjamin stood tall, looking down at her delicate, beautiful face. Even though she was dressed in the simple clothes of a village woman, her beauty was ethereal. โ€œI would rather stick close. Who knows if there will be another Wyatt lurking around?โ€

Celineโ€™s lips curved upward in a genuine smile. โ€œIโ€™m already divorced from Adam. Even if I end up with another man, it wouldnโ€™t count as cheating on him. You donโ€™t have to follow me.โ€

Benjamin pressed his lips together. โ€œThis has nothing to do with Adam.โ€

Celine blinked, puzzled. Benjamin was strikingly handsome. As the only heir of the Goodwin family, he held immense power and influence in Mercity. He was the classic embodiment of a wealthy heir, accustomed to a life of privilege and luxury. Yet, at this moment, he looked a bit disheveled, with wounds on his leg and arm, his complexion pale. Even so, his good looks remained unaffected. Unlike Adamโ€™s refined and noble handsomeness, Benjaminโ€™s charm was like that of a character straight out of a comic book.

Celineโ€™s surprise deepened. It wasnโ€™t because of Adam. She was confused about why he was following her. โ€œThen why? Is it becauseโ€ฆ you care about me?โ€ Benjaminโ€™s expression darkened as if he had been insulted. He raised his chin proudly. โ€œCeline, donโ€™t flatter yourself. Why would I care about you?โ€

Celine sighed and placed the herbs in her pocket. โ€œI was just joking. Everyone knows Benjamin despises me. The only person you care about is your precious sister-in-law, Carly.โ€

Benjaminโ€™s jaw tightened, though he said nothing.

โ€œBy the way, why were there explosives on the yacht? And why were they set to a countdown? Have you thought about who wanted to kill not just me but both of us?โ€

Benjamin clenched his fists. He refused to directly state his suspicions about Howard and Carly.

โ€œWhen I return, I will get to the bottom of this.โ€

Celine didnโ€™t push further. She knew Benjamin wasnโ€™t clueless. She had said enough.

Benjamin watched her collect herbs with practiced ease, her long lashes brushing against her cheeks. Unable to suppress his curiosity, he asked, โ€œCeline, did you study medicine?โ€ Her skills seemed exceptional. She had even performed what was practically bone reconstruction on him.

Celine nodded. โ€œOf course. Didnโ€™t Adam send me to Yorline University to study medicine?โ€

Benjamin was momentarily stunned. โ€œCeline, are you bragging?โ€

โ€œHow is that bragging?โ€ She had hidden her brilliance so well; a prodigy. Adam had unknowingly sent her to the top medical school, completely unaware that he was sponsoring a genius. She had probably been secretly laughing at him back then. He had never been so embarrassed by a woman until Celine.

He stood up, having gathered enough herbs. โ€œLetโ€™s go.โ€

Celineโ€™s vision blurred, and her slender body crumpled toward the ground. Benjamin immediately stepped forward and caught her, wrapping his arm around her waist. Celineโ€™s head rested against his chest. The sudden intimacy of their contact made Benjamin freeze for a second. After all, he was only two years older than Celine. They were practically the same age.
