Listen to this chapter:

Half an hour later, Celine arrived at Carlyโ€™s VIP ward. Carly smirked. โ€œCeline, youโ€™re here. That was quick.โ€

Glancing at Carlyโ€™s pale face, Celine said, โ€œYour heart is getting worse. If you faint again, it could be life-threatening. So, Iโ€™ll visit you whenever I can.โ€

Carly was speechless. She finally understood why her heart condition had worsened: it was because of Celine. She took a deep breath and adjusted her mood. โ€œCeline, donโ€™t worry about it. Adam has already found a heart that matches mine. Iโ€™m sure heโ€™ll save me.โ€

Celine raised an eyebrow. โ€œSo what if he found one? Does the person actually agree to donate? If they donโ€™t, itโ€™s illegal.โ€

At that moment, Lucy said, โ€œThat person will definitely agree.โ€

Celine looked at Lucyโ€™s smile and asked, โ€œIs that person you? Well, congratulations then. You must be willing to donate your heart to save Carly.โ€ Lucy was taken aback. Was Celine completely out of her mind?

Fuming with anger, Carly declared, โ€œCeline, arenโ€™t you curious about who that person is? Actually, I can tell you.โ€

Glancing at them, Celine was certain Carly had called her to the hospital for a reason. Now they were talking about a matching heart, so Celineโ€™s piercing gaze landed on Carlyโ€™s face as she asked, โ€œIs that person me?โ€

Carly and Lucy both laughed, thinking Celine was quite clever. Carly nodded. โ€œThatโ€™s right, itโ€™s you, Celine!โ€ Both Carly and Lucy laughed loudly at Celine.

Celine was surprised. She hadnโ€™t expected her own heart to match Carlyโ€™s. How could she not be surprised? It seemed that fate had already bound them tightly together.

Celine curled her lips into a smile. โ€œOh, Carly, youโ€™re as good as dead this time, and it will be in my hands.โ€

Carlyโ€™s expression shifted. โ€œWhat?โ€

Celine said, โ€œAm I wrong? I wonโ€™t save you. You might as well wait for death.โ€

Carly was speechless.

Celine stood up. โ€œAlright, Iโ€™ve said what I needed to say. Iโ€™m leaving.โ€

Just as she turned to leave, Carly called out, โ€œCeline!โ€ Then she said, โ€œIt doesnโ€™t matter if you refuse. Do you think Adam will?โ€

Celine suddenly stopped.

Carly regained her confidence. โ€œAdam wonโ€™t let me die, now that your heart is a perfect match for mine, you can save me. Guess what Adam will do?โ€ Celine had no answer. She truly didnโ€™t know. Would Adam really save her?

Just then, the door creaked open. Adamโ€™s tall, handsome figure appeared in the doorway. He was back. Adam hadnโ€™t expected Celine to be there. Seeing her ethereal beauty, he froze for a moment. Celine looked up at him, and their eyes met. They stood there, silently staring at each other.

โ€œAdam, youโ€™re finally back. I would like an apple. Could you cut one up for me?โ€ Carly said sweetly, her voice full of affection.

Adamโ€™s gaze moved from Celine and wandered over to Carly. Carly flashed a proud smile at Celine.

Celine looked at Carly and said, โ€œCarly, youโ€™ve got a weak heart. You shouldnโ€™t eat so many apples.โ€

Both Adam and Carly were speechless. In that moment, Celineโ€™s eyes asked the question: โ€œMr. Alvarez, could you step outside for a moment? I need to tell youโ€ฆโ€

Celine asked Adam to step outside, saying she needed to talk to him. Carly immediately raised her voice in protest and grabbed Adamโ€™s muscular arms. โ€œCeline, if you have something to say, say it here.โ€

Celine looked at them. She was pregnant now, and why should she bear this alone? She couldnโ€™t let Adam and Carly be all lovey-dovey. No, she had to tell Adam about this.

Celine said, โ€œCarly, this isnโ€™t something I can share with you. I need to speak to Mr. Alvarez. Mr. Alvarez, Iโ€™ll wait for you outside.โ€ With that, she left the room.

Carly clung to Adam. โ€œAdam, donโ€™t go.โ€

Adam pulled his arm away. โ€œIโ€™ll be right back.โ€ He turned and walked out. Carly was furious as she called out, โ€œAdam!โ€

Adam stepped into the hallway, and Celine was waiting for him. He headed toward her. โ€œYou needed to talk to me?โ€

Looking at him, Celine said, โ€œYes, I did.โ€ Celine paused, unsure how to begin.

Adam asked, โ€œWhy are you not saying anything?โ€

Celine asked, โ€œMr. Alvarez, have you ever thought about becoming a father?โ€

Adam froze, clearly caught off guard. โ€œWhy do you ask?โ€

Celine curved her lips into a faint smile. โ€œI just thought you werenโ€™t young anymore. I was just asking.โ€

Adam shook his head. โ€œNo, I donโ€™t like children.โ€ His voice was cold and detached.

Celine wasnโ€™t surprised, but she felt a bit disappointed. She simply replied, โ€œOh.โ€

He looked at her. โ€œYou asked me out here just for that?โ€ He gave her a once-over. โ€œCeline, donโ€™t tell me youโ€™re pregnant.โ€

Celine quickly denied it. โ€œNo!โ€

A melodious ringtone echoed through the hallway. Celine pulled out her phone; the screen displayed the name โ€œPerry.โ€ It was a call from him.

Adam raised a corner of his mouth; his expression was cold. โ€œWhy didnโ€™t you answer? Is it inconvenient to answer in front of me?โ€

Celine didnโ€™t respond.

Adam suddenly asked, โ€œDo you and Perry plan to have children?โ€

Celine replied, โ€œNo. Mr. Alvarez, Iโ€™ll be going now.โ€

Just as she was about to leave, Adam grabbed her slender waist, pulling her to a stop. โ€œCeline.โ€ He paused, seemingly unsure of what to say.

Celine patiently watched him, waiting. What did he want to say? Did he want her to save Carly, or did he want Carly to live?

Looking into Celineโ€™s clear eyes, Adam couldnโ€™t bring himself to speak.

โ€œMr. Alvarez, is my heart a perfect match for Carlyโ€™s?โ€ she asked.

Adamโ€™s tall frame stiffened. โ€œHow do you know?โ€

โ€œCarly told me just now.โ€

Adam scowled. This was something he hadnโ€™t wanted Carly to know, but somehow she did, and she had even told Celine. Looking at Adam, Celine said, โ€œMr. Alvarez, saving Carly means I wonโ€™t survive. Do you want me to die?โ€
