Chapter 469

Celineโ€™s heart skipped a beat when she heard Adam was taking Carly home. Could this mean they would be spending the night together?

Cadly smiled brightly. โ€œCeline, take your time with Mr. McCormick; Adam and I will be heading back now.โ€

Adamโ€™s gaze lingered on Celine for a moment; without a word, he turned and walked away with Carly.

Once they were out of sight, Owen spoke up. โ€œMr. Alvarez really has poor taste. I donโ€™t understand why he likes Carly.โ€

Celine offered a faint smile, remaining quiet. Matters of the heart were never simple. Carly might be foolish, but Adam still loved herโ€”proof enough of his sincerity.

โ€œJust wait until Carly discovers who you truly areโ€”the founder of Alpite Pharma, the countryโ€™s largest publicly traded medical company. Iโ€™m sure sheโ€™ll be utterly speechless.โ€

Celine could already picture the shocked expression on Carlyโ€™s face when that moment came.

โ€œMr. McCormick, letโ€™s leave it at that for now. I need to keep my identity under wraps for the time being.โ€

โ€œUnderstood.โ€

โ€œIโ€™m heading back now.โ€

โ€œTake care!โ€

Celine had just returned to Jupiter Heights when she crossed paths with Adam and Carly once more. What a small world.

Carly couldnโ€™t resist taking a jab. โ€œCeline, are you spending the night all alone?โ€

Celine remained silent.

โ€œWell, you should send your best wishes to Adam and me. Weโ€™re in for a wonderful night together,โ€ Carly added, her tone deliberately provocative.

But Celine didnโ€™t take the bait. She simply chuckled and replied, โ€œFunny, I spent last night at Mr. Alvarezโ€™s place too.โ€

Carlyโ€™s smile vanished in an instant. Her body tensed, as though a jolt of electricity had hit her. โ€œWalt, are you saying you and Adam spent the night together?โ€

Celine nodded casually. โ€œDidnโ€™t Mr. Alvarez tell you? I was in his bed last night. If that bothers you, maybe itโ€™s time to rethink your little plans.โ€

โ€œHow could I forget? Of course, you wouldnโ€™t mind. Youโ€™re always following me around, picking up the scraps I leave behind.โ€

Carlyโ€™s anger surged, her face turning crimson as Celineโ€™s words cut through her. No one else could manage to put her in her place with such ease. Turning to Adam, Carly spoke up, โ€œAdam, did you hear what Celine just said?โ€

Adamโ€™s gaze met Celineโ€™s, her clear, unwavering eyes locking onto his without the slightest hesitation.

โ€œMr. Alvarez, you really should get regular check-ups. Sleeping with different women every night is a fast way to catch something.โ€

Adamโ€™s expression darkened, his lips pressing into a thin line.

Carlyโ€™s face twisted in fury. Without warning, she lunged at Celine, raising her hand to slap her. โ€œCeline, how dare you talk to Adam like that? Letโ€™s see if you still feel so smug after this!โ€

But before her hand could make contact, her wrist was caught. Adam had grabbed Carlyโ€™s hand, stopping her in her tracks.

Carly froze, staring in disbelief. โ€œAdam, she just insulted you! Why are you protecting her? I need to put her in her place!โ€

Adamโ€™s gaze was unreadable, his eyes dark like ink, hiding any trace of emotion. He tightened his grip on Carlyโ€™s wrist and said, โ€œLet it go, Carly. Thereโ€™s no need to hurt yourself over this.โ€

Carly flashed a bright, triumphant smile and turned to Celine. โ€œDid you hear that, Celine? Adamโ€™s worried Iโ€™ll hurt my hand.โ€

Celine cast Adam a fleeting, indifferent glance before turning back to Carly, a smirk curling at her lips. โ€œWhether Mr. Alvarez actually cares about your hand, I canโ€™t sayโ€ฆ but as a woman, youโ€™re utterly pathetic.โ€

Carlyโ€™s expression stiffened. โ€œWhatโ€™s that supposed to meanโ€ฆ
